Apparently they don't get ANY business from the 13th Gate being right across the street.
Probably because a place called "Mud and Water" sounds like a shitty place to hang out, regardless of it's proximity to the Mighty 'Sip. Just the opinion of a patron of numerous bars

Convenient location for Riverside towing.

From what Ive been told the owner(s) has ties with the guys at Tip's and are looking to bring some decent local music acts into BR, a lot like SOGO did back in the day. And I do like the name of the bar, if you are one to judge a bar by its name then keep walking and go to the office, you know what you are getting there.

Pretty sure they just want people in the bar.
Those people are going to go to those places regardless

Thanks for all the feedback ... as a long time TD member, it's interesting to see something that I am actually involved with come to life and be a topic.
For the record ....
We aren't try to be anything but an additional entertainment option for BR that is not overly corporate or cheesy ..i mentioned the other establishments in the Dig Article because those are the kind of places I like to go to when i am working in BR and those venues have a respectable music calendar and good atmosphere. The plan is to have an interesting mix of local and national talent in an intimate setting. Think Circle Bar, Blue Moon in Laffy, etc. Though our capacity is 225 inside. We will book early weekday shows, function as a non-smoking environment inside, utilize our large patio and book a diverse calendar.
The name has received a lot of positive feedback especially when the logo is incorporated. The logo can be seen on the FB page. I get it's not for everyone, but at the end of the day it tells a story without being obvious like Levee or River Bar.
And understand we aren't a craft beer bar, but we plan on having a thought out selection of wine and beer. The actual bar area is not huge, so I was lucky to cram a 6 tap cooler there in the first place. NOLA doesn't come in the smaller kegs BTW or it would be in there.
This whole thing basically came together in 6 weeks from design to open and there is a lot of work to do, but hopefully it accomplishes what i set out to do: add something to the local scene.

Been running by a few times a week and noticed everything being built. We usually run by around 3 so have not seen much traffic around the bar.

There has been a ton of traffic around the bar because of the 13th gate, which has made it difficult to park for sure.
As that winds down, we will settle in a bit, but the bar is open 4pm to 2am Tues - Saturday for now.

My livelihood doesn't depend on the "wittyness" of an internet screen name. If it did I'd probably chose a better handle.
You sound mad, though.

Bars fail all the time because the people running them are clueless on how to run a business. If you don't think a name matters then you probably slept through that class in college.
Good luck on your new venture, though. I will stop by for a brew

Yes. I thought we were talking about bars.

Does it do well? It's a pretty dumb name, too.
Maybe it can fly in the BR

Dammit. Well radio bar isn't craft either, but they have a pretty decent selection. Will the selection be similar?
