Over the course of our SEC schedule thus far, the playcalling in the redzone (more specifically within the 10 yard line) has been horrendous to say the least. We all saw the debacle that was the Florida 7 yard line. Its almost like we don't even practice plays close to the goaline other than running the ball. Last night Spurrier displayed how to be efficient with those opportunities. The plays they ran down near the goaline were great and always lead to a wide open reciever. Spurrier probablly has hundreds of plays dedicated to that situation. Granted having a mobile quarterback helps alot down there but its clear we don't have faith in our QB to not turn the ball over. Running the ball on 3rd and 5 from the 6 yard line just isn't going to get the job done. We need to come up with some sort of decent playcalling in the redzone or it will bite us in the arse

Well when Mett throws a fade to the police officer or throws a pick six on the goal line that wouldn't instill much confidence in the pass game down there.

Execution in the red zone was terrible at the beginning of the year. They've become gun shy as a result.

Scoring in the red zone is about either:

1) power football
2).creating mismatches

If you can't accomplish those things, you'll struggle.

The downs to throw it down there is 1rst or 2nd . No confidence in passing game in tight quarters on obvious throwing situation. Only thing to do is throw the fade to a blocking tight end with three career receptions......then kick FG.

S. Carolina's play to score the first touchdown was fantastic. I'm still trying to figure how to scheme to stop it.

Missing receivers or throwing picks in the end zone just might have something to do with feeling more comfortable running the ball.
Ya think?

Mett needs to get confidence. The call for jump ball for Jacobs was a great call bc USCe was NOT expecting (They thought he was out there to block). It was just really bad execution by Mett.

I think some runs out of 3 or 4 WRs sets would help some. Just way to many guys in the box bc safeties can play even closer to the line then normal.

I don't care at all if he misses receivers, an incompletion doesn't matter. Just don't throw a pick, take a sack if you have to, I'd still have faith in Alleman.

How about 4 wide outs so you don't run into 10 man fronts

I would not be against having a package for Randell or Bolden when we get inside the 10.

play action up middle and one of two option...

bootleg and throw to TE

pitch to RB around corner

BOTH would be better than the garbage we were trying.

Need to get MUCH more creative

The heck he wasn't. The DB was playing off of him. If Mett puts it close the DB's only play would be to interfere.

This. It was just a poor throw.
