I've never seen a show that completely turned me off because of one character. If not for the uncle, mom, and Nora...this show is in the can.
I mean really? My 3 year old niece could out act Charlie. How did she get cast?

I think the plot of the militia government ruling, no elictricity ect... is pretty cool so I'll watch. Even if the twists are way predictable, and the whole idea of power, even cars and batteries just turning off is ridiculous.

At least next week people can stop bitching about "How is there no steam power? How did that just go away?"

I wonder what happened to the nuclear power plants. And how far does the effect extend? Satellites? Space probes?

watching tv is serious business. Guessing the "how are they so clean" crowd will return.

Yea I disagree with the "they're too clean" crowd. As well as the "no way a little girl could do that" crowd. If it was a movie then ok... But would you rather watch a bunch of filthy people, and a big ole burly, dirty chick as the main character? I for one am ok with that part being not so real...

Ihave enjoyed the show thus far. I can't stand that chick or her brother for that matter. They both spend their days looking like they are about to cry. It is annoying as hell.
I like the uncle's "I don't give a shite because I'm that much of a badass" attitude. There aren't enough shows with sword fighting in them.

I love how people take a completely unrealistic show like this and try to point out stupid things like cleanliness. The whole premise of the show is out of the realm of possibility, why are you worried about how clean/dirty they are.
Sit back and enjoy the show for an hour.

I've never experienced this until I started posting on TD.

Supernatural isn't realistic, they constantly live their lives in a car and at hotels, but those boys always look like models!!!

What does this have to do with the OP? There is a thread below this where what you said was discussed.
To help you out: the thing keeping this show from greatness is the lead character is annoying and the actress who plays her can't act.

Exactly, it's the same thing that held the Hunger Games back from being good books; the main character is completely unlikeable and does nothing but hurt her cause.
In fact, I feel like they are the same person

But I'm tired of these lead femal characters in movies/tv/books who have some goal, don't care about anything else, don't care who they hurt, and do nothing but ignore all the people trying to help.
Haven't male characters been doing this for decades?
Edit: Seriously, how is she any different then Sam on Supernatural?

Book of Eli portrayed that portion of the post-apocalypse perfectly. Granted it was a movie though. Mila Kunis didn't look dirty, but she didn't look like she was right out of a clothing ad.
Basically what I am saying is that there is an acceptable middle ground.
There are other reasons that this show turns me off though.

I caught the first episode but haven't brought myself to watch any after that yet. I love the premise but the execution is awful. I would far prefer to watch a real adult, probably in his or her upper 30's or lower 40's, who has the full benefit of an education received prior to the blackout and uses that knowledge along with his or her life experiences and pragmatism to win the day. Instead we get this dumbass teenage girl who knows nothing but thinks she knows everything. I am tired of these shows/movies that dump inexperienced kids into these situations. Let's give the adults a crack at it.

Call me sexist(I haven't seen the show), but how many female leaders are in this show besides the main girl? I know we're all PC and shite these days, but if you want to get a good idea of how low a glass ceiling can get, transport yourself to a post-apocalyptic world because I guarantee there won't be a whole lot of females in power.
Its just not even remotely realistic if there are a lot of them in the show. HOwever, I could give it a watch if it didn't look really cheesy. Is it cheesy?
