I've been a member of TAF since joining the collegiate club 9 years ago, and have given $100 or so for each of the 5 years since graduating. I'm now ready to start the process actually buying season tickets but don't know where to start. So here are a few questions:

I don't want to sit in the upper deck - how much do two seats in the lower bowl cost? What sort of TAF rank do I need to be offered said seats?

So you have something like 27 to 30 Philanthropic points? And your TAF Philanthropic ranking is something like in the mid-5000 range?

(This is the kind of information people need to help you, and also, this topic is pretty commonly discussed on the Ticket Exchange.)

A good place to start would be by giving more $$ each year.

Call the TAF.. talk to them about how much you need to donate in order to be in a relatively good spot. They cannot make any guarantees but can give you a good idea.

I have 4 in lower bowl.. $900 per ticket tradition fund then face value. Think it was right under $6000 this year

This is the issue. I have about 35 points and a ranking around 2,600. I couldn't get 2 season seats side-by-side together in the lower bowl this year. There were several single seats available. Less than 300 tickets came up for renewal (highest renewal rate in history) and they were taken by people above me. I did qualify for 2 new club level south end zone seats in 2014, so I will have those. I've been told there should be 1,000 - 1,500 seats open up in 2014, when the new addition is built, so you may qualify for seats in the lower bowl in 2014. You will probably need to be ranked at or below the 4,000 level. Call TAF and ask how many points will get you to or under 4,000. The TAF reps are great at answering questions. I agree with another poster that contributing $5,000 in one year gets you a significant bump in ranking and points versus donating $1,000 per year for 5 years. Obviously, if you are donating $100 per year now, that may not be possible, but it is the best way to make a significant jump in rankings.

My advice is contact TAF and inquire what is needed for you to move up the list enough to get the tickets you want. They have the ability to plug your account number into the computer and tell you exactly what you need to do to be where you want to be. Donations to projects carry weight, the $100 a year carries weight, even purchasing season tickets to minor sports moves you pretty rapidily up the rankings.

My suggestions would be to get what you can and then try to move to your ideal spot through the years. Nothing wrong with starting in the Uppers, at least you will be at the games.

Buy on ebay or stubhub each year. It'll be cheaper for you.
