Have a reservation for Jean Juho's Everest on Friday and Tru on Monday. Really looking forward to both of these because it will be my first time experiencing real fine dining (outside of New Orleans at least).
Bayless' restaurants were all reserved more than a month out, as well as the Girl and the Goat
So for pizza; Giordano's, Gino's, or Lou Malnati's?
Where can I get a great Italian beef sandwich?
Any other casual places I should try or great beer bars to hit up?

When I was in Chi Town, I ate at Giordano's and wasn't very impressed. Someone that lives there recommended Lou Malnati's...and I wish I had gone there.

Ginos is good, but a lot of bread in the deep dish. Takes a long time for it to be cooked. Dont forget the cheeborger cheeborger, double the best.

quote:Giordano's is my favorite of the bunch. they also do a thin crust pizza that is great. and the wait for it to cook is about half that of the deep dish. the only one i've eaten at is the one across from the sears tower.

can't go wrong at gino's east either.
did not like lou malnati's the one time i tried it. bland tasting & looked watery.

You can still try and get a place to sit at Girl and the Goat. Best meal I've ever had.

For a great fine dining in Chicago I will throw out Les Nomades. I probably had one of the best meals/experiences in my life there in July ...

Cafe Spiaggia. I've had several fantastic meals there. It's not as expensive as Spiaggia next door. It's on Michigan Ave. across from The Drake hotel.

But spiaggia is worth the money. Go there

We wanted Spiaggia, it was booked. So we tried Cafe Spiaggia. We were not disappointed.

Stuffed myself at Giordanos for lunch. While it was very good, I prefer New York style overall. And it is pretty damn cold here

By most accounts, it's really not. Cafe Spiaggia is a much, much better value, and the food is damn good.

If you're on the north side of town, try m.henry for breakfast - "Blackberry Blisscakes" is all you need to know. Bongo Room is another place (much closer to the heart of the city) as well.
Another vote for Portillo's (Italian beef) and Lou Malnati's for pizza - I actually liked the vegetarian one just as much as the meat lover thingie.
