On our way back to being a force in the SEC!!!!
Damn, same size and position as Victor. I hope this doesn't effect his position and consideration of LSU. I'll have to find this out for myself
So, does this commitment mean that we're slacking off on the recruitment of Jarell Martin from Madison Prep?? Something else I will need to find out for myself

NO. I can assure you Johnny and Co. are doing everything they can to get Martin's signature.

No way. If anything the staff pushes harder.

I know depth chart is one of the first things recruits look at but it shouldn't affect Victor or Martin's potential minutes too much. I could see it being a concern for PG's but there are more than enough minutes for 3 PF's, especially with LSU's lack of bigs. Martin might only be a one year guy anyway.
Glad to have Mickey, huge pickup. Don't like hearing about his shady school though.

I could see Martin at 3 and Mickey at 4, either in the game at 4, or playing as a 4-5 tandem in a small lineup.
Plenty of minutes for both either way.
Add Martin and a guard, then Bridgewater late if you get attrition. I see Bridgewater as a guy who's going to be a solid role player for four years and if his game takes off, that's a bonus. But you don't take him over Martin and you don't take him over a high-end guard. Now, if LSU can't get a HIGH-END guard, then you go get Bridgewater too. LSU has numbers at guard for a few years with Hickey, Collins, Stringer, Morgan, Coleman and Hammink. Especially with Martin being able to give you minutes at the 3.
I think they take a high-end guard this year, but they don't have to settle for a gamble. They could add a Bridgewater and target some high-end 2014 guards.

Get Jarrell Martin to come to LSU and this team will be stacked to the max with having a starting five of Hickey, Coleman, Martin, Mickey and O'Bryant. the length of that team would make it impossible for teams to score the ball and also help create a lot of fast break opportunities. Then coming off the bench you have Collins, stringer, Morgan, Courtney, Deng and Odoh. Tell me that lineup of players cannot win some games. Thank you Johnny Jones for literally "Restoring the Roar" in LSU basketball. if this is how excited we are getting during recruiting, I can't wait for these guys to start playing.

Wild card is Deng. Not many people know much about him. If he's as good as LSU thinks he's going to be and as good as Lee College thinks he is, he's in the mix. He's 6-8, skilled, athletic, fits right in with a team that wants players who can run, catch and finish on offense and defend with length and fast-twitch ability on defense.
Imagine a lineup with Hammink running the point, Coleman at the 2, then Martin, Mickey and Deng as a front line. You're 6-6, 6-6, 6-7, 6-8 and 6-8. All very long with the ability to get in passing lanes and play well above the rim.
Very Mizzou-like, as Sunny said, and maybe even shades of the old Flying Illini team with Kendall Gill, Nick Anderson, Steve Bardo, Kenny Battle, Lowell Hamilton and Marcus Liberty, all between 6-5 and 6-8 and could switch on any screen set on defense because they were all so versatile.

I don't expect Lil Geert to play much PG until his junior year. By that time, he may have grown into a 3/4. We'll have to play that one by ear. Hopefully we can pull a true PG next year.

I have to say, I wasn't at all for the JJ hiring. Maybe I was just frustrated with the program as a whole, but I think Im gonna get behind JJ, looks like he is trying to right the ship for sure.

I didn't like it at first because of the connection to the end of the Dale Brown era, but he's been impressive so far. He's already proven himself a better recruiter than Big Bird.
