Can you all at least somewhat appreciate what JJ/JL brought to the table now?

(Posted on the ScoreBoard last night...which is now closed)
To preface these remarks, let me first say that NO I don't want the QB situation we had last year...I am perfectly happy with Mettenberger and totally believe he will be a very productive player for LSU and lead the team to many wins in his time here.
My point is this...say what you want, but for the most part, you knew exactly what you were going to get from Lee and Jefferson. They each were VERY good at taking care of the ball, not making mistakes, and protecting field position. Sometimes they made plays, and if they didn't, Wing would punt and flip the field and the other team would have a mile to go to score. When we did have a short field to work with last year, both QB's were very good at punching the ball into the end zone and taking advantage of the situation.
For now, what you get from Mettenberger is a little bit of uncertainty...he has committed 3 turnovers near the goal line this year, including one tonight. His other fumble tonight directly led to Auburn's only score and is the only reason they were even in the game. He is young, still learning, and will make some errors that the QB's last year simply didn't make. It is something we all have to live with as he experiences some growing pains. And I believe he will get better. Much better. Not that he is "bad" now..
And running is not a factor with Mettenberger it would appear. Hopefully he will gain some field awareness/better sliding techniques. 2 different times last night he should have had first downs but came up short. We all know Jefferson would have gotten those.
So the bottom line is this...give the kid a break. He is just going to get better. And appreciate what we did have last year and understand what the coaches saw in Lee and Jefferson.

Only a couple. I want to test the reading comprehension skills of the Rantards. Not looking good so far.

Nope, glad they are gone and never coming back
Posted on 9/23/12 at 11:09 pm to LSUGrad9295
Why? No one is reading Chapter 1, only the title....

Lee/ JJ were battle tested SRs, albeit shitty QBs, but they knew what to expect game in and game out.
It's mett's first yr starting at this level. Did we know what we were getting in Lee and JJ's first year as a starter? Awful comparison

I posted the original thread at 3am...and the Scoreboard was closed shortly thereafter. Sorry I make posts that are well thought out and are meant for intelligent discussion. If you want it whacked, fine. I don't give a shite.

This thread is awful. Truly awful.

Not gonna lie, last night I found myself saying "JJ's legs or JJ's toughness woulda been big right there"
I about lost my shite on the 2 runs Mett had when he just came up short...he curled up like a bitch on the first one and just wasn't aware either time...moving the sticks were crucial at those times! Plus our lack of imagination in the redzone worries me, I thought this is where JJ put a lot of pressure on defenses

I have always appreciated what those two brought to the table, but didn't appreciate how they were used at times. Their time is over, can we all just move along?
