this is what will be defined clearer as the weeks go by. There is talent enough for a 9-7 wildcard no matter what. Whether that is attainable we dunno. Dallas has been one of the most talented underachieving teams for quite a while from the very same lack of master planner/leader.

not all, but alot of the teams have around the same amount of talent. No team is going to have 20 all pro players. Most of it is developing/getting the most out of talent, getting them in the right system and putting them into position to excel. That's all a part of coaching, which is why CSP is a huge difference, it's why Spags may not make much of a difference this year. All teams have talent, some teams like the Jags screw the pooch evey year in the draft and FA and have less, but how much more around the board talent do the Patriots have than the Jets? likely not much, Belichick is the difference.

imagine drew brees behind that offensive line...

The Saints offense is just as good as those other teams listed. It just needs to start rolling and defense needs to step it up.

thought you would have to mention a RB that could be compared to Emmitt

Love the positivity.. Also, if memory serves me correctly that 2007 Giants team had Spags calling the shots on Defense. It's clear these guys haven't yet learned the scheme, but its also concerning that the DBs are out of position as often as they are. I don't care who you are - if you're putting up 30 points per game, you should be coming away with wins. The fact that we've played from behind in both games makes the offense one dimensional and thus more predictable in my opinion. It's a numbers game for opposing D-coordinators at that point.

As wildcard defeated 18-0 Pats as 13.5pt underdogs in SB
Interesting that we are sorta like a combination of the Pats that year and the Giants.

prolly wouldn't make the top 5 of most improbable Super Bowl teams even if it was as a 9-7 wildcard
In a way appearing in the SB as a wildcard underdog in Nawlins would be far more dramatic than as a #1 seed roll. We know the drama that Lombardi Gras 1 brought. With the storyline this year 2 would be even more over the top.

The NFL Is all about how you finish, No we're not stacked on defense, but it is a new defense. It takes time. We win games by outscoring opponents, anyway. Drew is a competitor, and he's not going to let this offense continue to play the way it has, and he's going to play better than he has. We just need to win a couple in a row, and we'll start rollin. I'm seriously not worried at all. We will find our rhythm again.

Blues, I may not get to post as much as some of the other guys, but I share the same optimism as you do.
Now, if we go 0 - 4, then my tune will change to the same as the others no matter how much I love our team

worry? nope. worry: to torment oneself with or suffer from disturbing thoughts; fret.
Worry short term can be a good vent. Long term it becomes a waste of time, counterproductive , and even be damaging emotionally.
Concern? Yes. Let's do all we can to fix whatever is causing worry. Sometimes the answers are not all that we want however. Finding the rhythm could end up taking too long for this year. If that is the case the mock draft threads will be all the more exciting.

I hope it's not too late. I still feel good, maybe I'm crazy. I really feel like getting a win will start a roll. It's just getting a little scary hoping that win comes this week.

no, they really are that bad. As much as it hurt to look and think, then come out and say it, that game yesterday, even with brees, was over with late in the second quarter. One thing I was looking for was improvement in both offense and defense. I saw neither, and if anything, saw regression in the defense from week 1 to 2.
This defense is now going to take a pure rebuilding mode standpoint. I'm glad we inked brees, but we dont have time for a rebuilding mode on either side of the ball. Unfortunately I think the defense is, as of right now, in dire need of it.

Even if we finish well the problem is making the playoffs somehow so we still have that opportunity. It would be awesome if they finally start gelling against the Chiefs and turn things around with an upset against the Packers.
