This is not Madden. It is a pretty hard for a player to just move positions and be successful. Putting on 25 pounds in an offseason and being asked to compete at a position players have been playing all their career is a whole lot to ask!

First, I don't play Madden. Second - did you see how much Harper played in the box last year in the second half of games? He was always up at the line of scrimmage. He's been stopping the run all his career so I don't think OLB would be that big of an adjustment. in a 3-4 Defense OLB speed is exactly what we are going to need, and the transition will be asking most of our players to do different things than they've been accustomed to in the past.
I think both Harper and Jenkins have been playing slightly out of position.. but I think it's more likely that we see Harper move to OLB. I think he could be really productive there if he's able to put on about another 25 lbs or so. We now have a ball hawking guy back there, who has really good instincts from what I've seen and heard.
Hasn't the guy led us in tackles the last two years?
Wish he were coming back but the guy is going to really take off at the next level I think. He'll be a key cog to any D.
I think the issue here for me is that windows to win National Championships are small.. We had a team good enough to win one last year, and we would have a team that is capable of doing it this year if we had some resemblance of an offensive gameplan. The truth is, if we have a top 50-60 offensively ranked squad we could be looking at a possible repeat this year. I do not believe this is a player issue - we are as talent rich (outside of having a true #1 WR this year) on both sides of the ball as we've maybe ever been at LSU.
I'd for sure establish a faster tempo.. I think we have fundamental problems along the offensive line but I think there are certain way in which you can mask this. Did anyone catch any of the Patriots-Broncos game this past weekend? The patriots have seemingly incorporated an Oregon type tempo to a pro-style offense. I think this would accomplish two things: 1) it would exploit personnel/ match up advantages by disallowing the defensive units to sub players in and out based upon package and 2) it would allow our guys to just play with less thought. Everything seems predictable and forced because it is.

I know another QB doing fine with his mobility issues... goes by the name Tom Brady. C'mon man - this is a complete offensive scheming break down.

I agree I think at this point it is mental, but the lack of a true #1 is killing us. ODB is most effective as a slot/ possession receiver. I just think he is being asked to run routes that he wouldn't ordinarily be asked to run if we had a #1 to stretch the field. Good news is that we shouldn't have problems reloading with future classes.
I dont post often, if at all, but I'm shocked to see so many people bashing this analysis. From an actual scheming standpoint I think the guy is pretty dead on, the rest of the emotional ink I could go without. Mett isn't being put in positions to succeed. We HAVE to get that extra defender out of the box. Passing game/ rushing game is directly relational. You have to exploit the numbers when they are in your favor. I'd love to see these guys go up tempo and keep the defense from making substitutions when we've got favorable matchups. Work the intermediate passing game over the middle and then get up to teh line and stretch run. I think the execution problems are the byproduct of perhaps too much thought.

As far as the winning numbers you all have thrown back -- Les is a great recruiter, no argument there, but let's be honest we are winning those games on Defense and Special Teams.

Love the positivity.. Also, if memory serves me correctly that 2007 Giants team had Spags calling the shots on Defense. It's clear these guys haven't yet learned the scheme, but its also concerning that the DBs are out of position as often as they are. I don't care who you are - if you're putting up 30 points per game, you should be coming away with wins. The fact that we've played from behind in both games makes the offense one dimensional and thus more predictable in my opinion. It's a numbers game for opposing D-coordinators at that point.

First off, let me just say that I fully support this..but anyone who thinks for a moment that Benson won't be personally taking Goodell out for a meal when he comes to town is kidding themselves. Superbowls are TOO GOOD for business and any owner knows that. My guess is that he's going to eat, and he's going to eat well.
I think this is plausible.. If Miles has been covering up final semester grade problems for JLee then it might explain why his playing time steadily decreased over the course of the fall semester. That being said, I also think that Miles felt like this season was JJ's from the start when he had such a great offseason and had "impressed at the manning passing academy" so when he had the opportunity to re-insert him into the starting line-up at Bama he thought the timing was perfect. If Miles thought JLee hadn't earned the playing time due to lack of preparation I could also see a few players taking exception to this at halftime. Not saying, I'm just saying.
