That is the part that makes me skeptical that he is okay. If I were in that situation (not that I would be), I would be SURE to put on the PFD before I tried to climb onto a rig (or anything else). I would probably also tie the yak to the rig. Finally, once on the rig, if I took off the PFD, it would probably be ON the rig. Still keeping my fingers crossed, though.

I agree that is a great "plan"; but the reality is that might prove to be a lot more difficult then most would think. (Even for someone who hasn't been in the elements for several days.)The PFD issue is easy, and it should have be on him if he was out in the gulf.

Although unlikely, given the circumstances of finding the kayak with the PFD on board, I would think they might have to rule out suicide.
