How long before kickoff should I enter the stadium to get good student seats, since it's general admission?

Entering the stadium and getting in line to enter are two different things.
2 to 2.5 hours and you should be fine.

Depends if you want to drink or not and how drunk you want to be when the game starts.
get there 30 minutes before kickoff and you should be okay.

Get in line about 6 hours before kickoff and just sit there and drink until they open the gates. BTW all the seats are good in the student section.

This. We usually get there about 2 hours before kickoff and get seats in the middle of the middle section. High enough to see stuff, but low enough to be able to still see replays on the big screen (since the South endzone's screen is a POS)

considering it's a night game against a relatively weak OOC opponent, you should be more worried about drinking than having a good student seat.

I like to catch every second of it so i usually go an hour and half before.....seeing about all the rennovations though i would check them out earlier

If you want to sit low, sober up, cook, and feel miserable then 2 and an half hours. If you want to party and be good and drunk all game! Just in time to hear Callin Baton Rouge!

We usually get inside about the time callin baton rouge plays. The only bad seat in the student section is right behind the band. I don't care to give up valuable drinking time to sit lower.

Find a bunch of fraternity pledges saving seats for their active/soon to be brothers.
Attempt to take one of those seats.

They've gone back to general admission seating? In that case, five minutes before kickoff. The pledges will have saved seats.
