I can agree with that, but the expectation of some that this game will be at all affected by the weather is a little dramatic. Hurricane season is during football season. They've coincided for about 100 yrs. The field may be wet. Unless the city of New Orleans is 8' underwater, this game will not be affected.

Historical evidence supports your assertion that a disruption is unlikely, given the large number of games during hurricane season and the relatively small number of games impacted. However, I can tell you that, as a former member of the Lousiana Army National Guard, current father of a Louisiana Air National Guard airman, and the father-in-law of a Louisiana Army National Guard soldier - the panic button has never been far away from the powers-that-be since Katrina.

That has not faded, much, if at all in the intervening 7 years.

recent history says otherwise. last 3 times hurricanes have rolled through, games have been delayed or moved up.

I hope that I implied that.

Sorry if already been posted, but isn't there some kind of correlation to the game being allowed to play in regards to canceling school?

Dude. The cancellation wouldn't be because of what the weather was going to do on Saturday.

weather should be OK... the after effects of the storm for "driving" i.e. trees down, electricity, etc will be the deciding factors and IMo is just too early to know.

I'm just trying to point out the abundance of drama surrounding this storm. We have had a game affected by a Hurricane before. In 2005 New Orleans was under 8' of water so we postponed the Tennessee game. Other than that, tiger football hasn't been affected by the weather in about 100 yrs. Don't ever call me surely.

If the PMAC and/or Ag Center is used for refugees, that would cause major problems. LSU needs a set amount of law enforcement officials on campus for a game, & they may well be needed elsewhere. Power outtages & windstorm damages could make TS unplayable, like last time. So, it mite be a beautiful nite in TS, but there are plenty of other potential problems that could force cancellation or the game being pushed back.

Shirly you must have forgotten the 2008 North Texas game that was postponed after Gustav. Gustav hit on Monday. BR was hit hard and the law enforcement personnel required to host a game was tied up with more important things.

This is my concern, regarding the game.

True, I predict that there will be 140 mph winds, followed by a torrent of frogs, locusts and raccoons. The raccoons are the worst. Run for your lives while you have a chance.

Doubt it - 10%

Still a tropical storm. We're deservedly 'gun shy'. Even if Category 1 or 2, it should have done it's thing and be gone by game time. Practice this week may tough for the boys.

wouldn't surprise me if they did a monday night deal again like they did after katrina.

They didn't do that after Katrina. They did it for Rita when they thought it would be in B.R. on Saturday.

Not true.

In 2005 alone:

-the opener against North Texas was postponed until later in the season

-the second game, against Arizona State, was moved to Tempe from B.R.

-the third game, against Tennessee, was moved from Saturday night to Monday night

In 2008:

-the opener against Appalachian State was moved from its originally scheduled night kickoff to 10:00 a.m. to facilitate evacuation for Hurrican Gustav

In 1964:

-the Florida game was moved from early in the season to the end of the season due to Hurricane Hilda

Also, in 2005, the Tennessee game wasn't postponed because of Katrina, it was because of Rita.
