Best way to kill mass amounts of (ra)coons

Our place in South Texas has an infestation of coons. 90% of our gamecam pictures have at least a few in each pic. We used to just blow into the feed pens with the lights off and guns blazing late night...but the first time my dad saw our tactics and realized the propensity to shoot something in there other than a coon he quickly put an end to that. They only come out at night and are very smart. I shite you not some of the coons we have killed have weighed 40 lbs. Anyone have any suggestions on how to hunt/kill/poison
these things other than late night spotlighting?
And I think they are keeping some of the deer out as well

With Fire! Honestly though, I don't know. But cool pics!
The late night spotlighting sounds like fun.

Those frickers are smart too. Put out some traps. They make all kinds of different traps for those bastards. Use soybeans instead of corn.

IDK if this would work, but is there some kind of food you could poison and put out that other wildlife wouldn't want to eat? But then you'd have a bunch of stinky, rotting raccoons all over the place.

Thats what I am wondering. And we have a large enough ranch a bunch of stinky rotting raccoons would not be an issue, we let the pigs and varmints lie where we shoot em.

I wouldn't poison them. If a bald eagle eats a poisoned coon and dies, you're fricked!

I solved the problem at one of my feeders by placing a live trap and catching one. I left him in for a couple weeks and he slowly rotted away. None of the other coons have been seen since. Watching one of their own rot slowly must have freked them out.

extend the feeder legs a foot or so. deer can still get them and they can't reach up there.

He's giving that thing a good ole rodgering.

My pops told me he had a racoon problem before i was around. he said there was about 6 of them on his porch and he shot one in the head. that was the last of his racoon problem. so yeah i would go with them hating to see their own die.

They are mean bastards too, and definitely keep deer out

The only problem with that is this is in our protein pens, would a rotting raccoon corpse keep the deer away as well?

Damn right they are mean. At least one had snuck into my pops pigeon coop and ate 2 babies and 2 adult white pigeons. We shot the babies out of a tree in plain daylight and trapped the parents by the pigeon cage.
