Really depends on who they are playing

At our tailgate we usually have the old JP game, or SEC Network if you want to call it what it is now..

Golic's brother, his two sons & he all went to ND & he's never really pushed the ND agenda except when Greenie brings it up. Lou Holtz is a LOT worse at that. And, correct, it was a slow news day & the programmers were looking to fill in air time. Reilly usually writes with his tongue in cheek & I took his article in that light. But this story broke 2 wks ago & was overworked then by M&M.

But LSU (for example) also gets splits of other bowls that the conference participates in. So i guess my question is how much different is the payout usually on a given year? I bet its not much different, but i really dont know.

Sure, but the other bowl pay outs are minimal. BCS payouts dwarf them

Should ND get a 1.3 Million dollar playoff check just for being ND, while the other conferences split it up?

ND would make more money in the B1G, that really is an absurd argument from reily at this point.

this part confused me

SEC:
BCS Title Game (LSU): $17.5 million
Cap One Bowl (USC): $4.6 million
BCS Title Game (Alabama): $4.5 million

that is interesting. maybe since both SEC teams made the title game they are not allowed to both take the $17.5 million cut; instead the second school only gets $4.5? that rule is bulshit if true.

all the other BCS bowls are both split $17.5 a piece.

I'm no fan of Golic, but Reilly is a true clown and, apparently, a communist to boot.

The entire article Reilly wrote just reeked of attention grabbing. He knew exactly what he was doing with that piece and is getting the play he wanted just before the season. ND seems to me to have haters and followers, he wanted to be in the news as everyone is getting fired up for the season. Reilly has been doing this since he joined ESPN. He used to be a reporter and decent writer with opinions that made you think, but it seems he wants to go the Bayless and Stephen A route on ESPN now.

yeah, his career is fluttering so he makes a bleacher report type article to generate web site hits and attention. very amateur.

The 2nd team from a conference in the BCS gets $4.5 regardless. Look at the link Mich and VT get $4.5M for Sugar.

Sounds like Sugar Bowl committee made out like bandits with 3 2nd teams
