Speaking of Lyanna, what do you guys think is buried in her crypt? Rhaegar's harp? Targ wedding cloak? Torrhen's crown?
Jon descends upon Winterfell with a wildling army after receiving reinforcements from the Cranogmen with Howland Reed at the head. He tells Jon that he should go to the crypts to pay respect to his father. Jon hesitates, wrought with grief. He goes to sleep beneath the walls of Winterfell that evening. He has a vision of Ned walking around the crypts. He goes down there to reconcile why he is having these thoughts and something compels him to open Lyanna's crypts. Next to her bones, is a small bundle and two parchments. The first is from Ned, it states:
Dearest Jon,
I have raised and loved you as my own but my honor has forced me to write these words and I must now betray an oath that I made so many years ago. If you are reading this you have spoken to Howland Reed and the truth must be told. You are a man now and I have done my best to teach you the ways of honor, loyalty and family. And it is the last that brings me to these words, as you know Jon you are of my blood, but you are not my son. Your mother was the lady Lyanna, my sister. You were born of a secret love that caused the collapse of a kingdom and the deaths of so many but from that chaos came a precious gift, you. As Lyanna lay dying in child birth I made a vow to her on her death bed that I would raise you as my own. To do that I had to make the world believe that you were bastard born. You were made to live with this mark and for that I am sorry. The lie was vital Jon because the truth would not just cost you your life but the lives of all we love and hold dear. If your true lineage would have come forth King Robert would have had you killed and I would have lost the last part of my dear sister. Your true name is Jon Targaryen, you are the true born son of Rhaegar Targaryen. The proof of your birthright and lineage are within this crypt. It was love and honor that bound this oath, Jon, the same love I bear for you and my sister. I hope that you can forgive me for this falsehood but know this, falsehood or not, you are as much Stark as you are Targaryen. If the day should come that you are called upon to take up your birthright and lead, do so in keeping with the ways of the North for you are as much wolf as you are dragon.
Your uncle, Lord Eddard Stark, Lord of Wintefell and Warden of the North.
Jon stands motionless in shock of all that he has read and then looks to the other parchment containing a royal edict from Rhaegar Targaryen stating that the child born of his and Lyanna's marriage is his and trueborn. The document was signed by Rhaegar and later witnessed by Lord Commander Gerold Hightower, Ser Oswell Whent, and Sir Arther Dayne, the Morningstar after the birth of Jon who was named for the old King of Winter. Jon then turns to the bundle and there inside is a dragon egg, dark blue in color, like a winter rose.

Mother of God. Did you write that or pull it from someone else, because that was pretty damn great.

So what happened at the Tower of Joy, the Kings guard committed suicide?

That made me tear up .
Well done.
I think that finding out Jon's parentage is going to be an emotional moment for readers. No doubt I'll be emotionally affected by the confirmation of R+L=J. Especially if there's a letter written by Ned. I wonder if they'd use Sean Bean's voice to read it?
