I definitely think that TWoW *has to* come out in 2015 if Martin is serious about staying ahead.

Found a blog post by Adam Whitehead. In it he says there's hope for tWoW to be out by 2015 and aDoS in 2018
It moved.
Seriously though, thats got to be the best case scenario.

I'm not gonna go off the deep end over a conversation between his publishers on twitter.
Very real possibility that Robin Hobb had some inside info since she shares a publisher with grrm and let it slip not thinking it was a big deal and the publishers freaked
At least that's what I'm telling myself lol

Their twitter conversation seemed like they were trying a little too hard to squash that rumor to me.
Why would they even comment at all?

I don't know, it's a little weird/something is fishy because I thought that they were all deliberately trying to be tight lipped/mum's the word about Martin's progress with TWoW due to the justifiable fan backlash over the past 13 years.

Teaser for the 15 minute S4 special! Joffrey cutting Tyrion's wedding gift book in half, Cersei and Jaime making out (looks like they're going to include the Sept scene ).

Being that Winds will be years away, hope this is wrong, everyone should read Wheel of Time. Just finished the first book, and started the second, and it is good stuff in the same genre. With 11 books in the series, it is the methadone to ASOIAF heroin

Lol I'll definitely read it. Do you think they'd ever make a TV series version or is it too long?
FWIW I read on the ASOIAF forum that allegedly 2015 isn't off the table for TWoW, but that 2014 is. So it's not as bad as we originally thought. However, if Martin is adamant about the show not surpassing him he needs TWoW out no later than 2015.

They are all young adults/middle aged when the series starts, so I'm guessing they could pull it off without having to worry about actors getting too old. Not sure how many seasons though as I'm not far enough into them. Eye of the World could definitely be done in one season. Not sure there is enough interest to do a series though. Doesn't have the sex draw to get a lot of non-readers interested immediately. I jumped right into book 2 though, so it does draw you in if you are interested in the quest/save the world/fantasy type genre.

Are there lots of big floppy weiners in Wheel of Time?
Posted on 1/27/14 at 10:54 am to Cosmo
I keep asking myself how this series made it to 11 books. Over 1,000 pages in and not a single floppy weiner to be read of.

None to speak of. I read the first 5 books and put it down. Jordan had something special going that could have been put into a 7 book series. He became far too long winded for me. There was that and then spoiling the end while investigating a name on the WoT wiki. Proceed with caution on that site.

I don't think David and Dan should stretch out AFFC and ADWD just to appease Martin.
It wouldn't be to appease Martin, it would be about:
a.) Money
b.) Keeping the fans happy
Not sure about you, but I would be PISSED at them, even more so than at Martin, if they took it upon themselves to write beyond what has been released. There's honestly enough material left in book 3 to fill all of season 4.

This doomsday scenario of the show passing the books up has to affect way more people than Martin. You would think everyone would lose money if this was the case.
1. Martin would sell less books because some of the non diehards wouldn't see the point in reading 3,000 pages of a story they already know. So, Martin, the publishers, etc. would all lose money.
2. The show might have less viewers because of the opposite situation. People would avoid it so as not to ruin the books. I doubt this number would be very big, but it is a possibility.
I don't know how GRRM handles pressure from the people that pay him to write, but I would assume they are on his arse to finish prior to the show catching him. I'm sure this isn't a new thought, but it just seems like such a bad business move to come anywhere close to missing the deadline.
