I think Faceless Men can only change their face and not body. That said, I think its highly possible that Varys has some training from the Faceless Men.

Also, is it pretty much assumed that the Sailor's Wife is Tysha and the young whore, Lanna, is Tyrion's?

A lot of people think she is Gerion's child, but I agree that it is Tysha and his bastard daughter.

I'll get on the Faceless Varys train just because during my reread of AGoT he was always surprising people with different looks. Most notably Ned in the dungeons. Ned could really make out his face but recognized him through his voice. Also Varys has a mustache on and I haven't read anything about the Westeros makeup studio.

I think that Varys definitely had some Faceless Man training. How else can be change his appearance and know about everyone's business? I wouldn't be surprised if Arya becomes the future Master of Whispers/Spider of Westeros.

Next question. Varys and Illyrio obviously are colluding together to some end with Dany. Prince Doran has also been plotting to bring the Targaryens back to Westeros and join their houses as they take down the Lannisters.
Has anyone picked up on anything that suggests Prince Doran is in league with the other two or is it just two plots separate from one another?

I think Doran is separate from Varys.

I also think that Doran is separate from Varys and Illyrio and that he wanted Quentyn to marry Dany and Arianne to Viserys before he got himself killed by Khal Drogo. But now that Quentyn is Dragon Barbecue, I think Doran is going to put all of his eggs in the Faegon basket and that's why he sent Arianne to treat with him in the Stormlands.

Any ideas on why Wun Wun went apeshit on that douche Southron knight? I assume it was a coordinated distraction to kill Jon.

Who else thinks that one reason GRRM hasn't really been forthcoming with progress or in a hurry is that he's pissed that R+L=J is pretty much common knowledge amoung non Hodors.
I would be disappointed if my plot twist "BOOM moment" had been ruined. I imagine it would take some wind from my sails.

I see it as going either way, but if she is Tyrion's child she's no bastard.

George needs to get over himself. The internet has been around for a while, and with how slow he writes, it's no wonder that his fans are going to put theories together and discuss the possibilities. If he was so concerned with us figuring out major plot points then he should've written faster instead of eating desserts and giving his side projects priority over ASOIAF.

I don't think he cares whether or not anyone figures things out. A good writer leaves those clues for readers to put things together. It adds intrigue and has people wanting more.

I tend to agree with you. If anything, I think it took him so long because he had no deadlines at that time, was traveling more due to his success from ASoS and had more money at that point, etc. Plus he had to fill in the 'middle act' of ASOIAF and I'd imagine that he's had a lot of the key events for TWoW and ADoS mapped out since the 1990s when he started the series.

One other thing is his publisher is probably happy that he taking his time. The more people that get caught up now because of them all being paperbacks the more hardcovers 1st editions they sell and reprint. I have a hardcover ADwD and that was a cool two years after it's release. I did get it for $15 cheeper than original price but when TWoW come out I'll be waiting in line getting it full price. There's also people like my brother-in-law that get the slipcover editions. Plus the more appearances he make the more he, his publisher, agent, and HBO makes. It's easy pub for the price of a plane ticket and a hotel room.

If I were his publisher I'd want TWoW to come out sometime between December 2014-December 2015. Cash in on the success while the show continues to reach all-time records for HBO. GoT is already heading into Sopranos ratings territory and that's not including the 6 million viewers who pirate it.
I definitely plan on going to one of those Barnes and Noble midnight release parties for it .

Okay, middle of the night, weary from illness crackpot theory time.
I watched the first episode of the show tonight and it got me thinking.
Are the direwolve pups that each of the Stark children get a gift from the Three Eyed Crow aka Brynden Rivers? Specifically Ghost, who is Jon Snow's, and is albino with red eyes like Bloodraven is with his pale features and red eyes.
The TEC would be able to see past present and even future, if I'm correct, and would no doubt know about R+L=J and would want to send some sort of help to protect the rightful heir to the Targaryen throne.
So maybe this is common knowledge and not crackpot? Sorry if this has already been discussed.

I definitely think Bloodraven was behind the dire wolf pups being discovered and probably knew that the Stark kids all had latent warging abilities and would need protection in the wars to come.

Speaking of Bloodraven/TEC, here's a theory that I've never heard of before:
Similarities between Bloodraven & Old Nan/Connections
A poster also mentioned a possibility that perhaps Bloodraven tried warging Old Nan?

Finished book 2, womp womp.
Read it pretty quick. GoT tv season 1 sticked close to the script more than I imagined a show could. Season 2 of the show had a decent amount of differences though.
My only complaint about Martin is how much he writes about dreams. Seemed like 2/3 of the chapters of CoK started out with somebody dreaming. Bran I get, for obvious reasons, but everybody's dreams were kind of pointless and more of him rambling.
That being said, I LOVE the books and think he is fantastic. Just a small complaint.
