Speaking of dragons and winter, If the others could somehow kill a dragon, could they create some kind of wight dragon? They've been able to create other wight animals. I guess it could work if the dead dragon wasn't able to breathe fire.
That's interesting because didn't the first Valyrian invaders try to conquer north of the wall because they thought they could sneak down from there and surprise the southern kings...but they got owned and had to invade the south instead?
And they got owned up north because they weren't ready for what they found there?
This was in the Dunk and Egg tales somewhere...or did I read it here?
(ETA) Oh I remember now, they got blindsided by the wargs who took over the dragons and I'm pretty sure I read that here.

Yeah, it's possible they encountered some wildling wargs who tried warging their dragons and everything went to shite .
I think we also discussed how during Aegon's Conquest that the Targs actually didn't go to Winterfell or the North and didn't try conquering it. Torrhen Stark had to go to the Riverlands to bend the knee, and that the Targs basically left the Northerners and Starks alone until the Mad King decided to kill Rickard and Brandon and start a war.
But, speaking of Targs, I'm wondering if the bookish Rhaegar wanted Lyanna because of her First Men blood, and thought that Old Blood of Valyria plus the First Men would equal the PtwP??

That actually a pretty legit thought I haven't seen discussed. Rhaegar could definitely have come to that conclusion in his readings. Good find lady

And if you think about it, Bloodraven is also half Targ half First Men. Have to be some parallels there. Plus Jon is a warg, albeit untrained, he's unknowingly warged into Ghost several times and it's argued that at the end of AWDW/beginning of TWoW that he's warged into Ghost after the stabbing.

There's also Egg's son Dunk who gave up the crown for Jenny of Oldstones (First Men). Jenny of Oldstones was friends with the woods witch (probably the Ghost of High Heart who said she had enough grief at Summerhall) that prophesized the PtwP.
They end up dieing at Summerhall probably trying to hatch a dragon.
I'll try to see if I can find the whole Summerhall theory that I read a while back. I may have gotten some of the details wrong

Definitely repost your Summerhall theory when you can find it .

That's very close to how I imagine him. I guiltily think of Captain Jack Sparrow with an eyepatch, but he's not far off.

exactly how i imagined him

That's sterling casting.

I mentioned something along these lines way back in this thread and got told it was stupid. That he wanted a warging ability and he somehow knew that Lyanna could give it to their child.

I saw that on the WinterisComing Facebook fanpage.
I'm thinking he's either going to be Euron (Euron allegedly has looked young for years) or possibly a Kettleblack.
Plus Euron is supposed to be good looking, if I'm to believe the fanart picture of him on his AWOIAF entry (the one of him with the cape on).

Yeah, that would be exactly how I imagined him.

I'd say that for the most part, I've been impressed with the casting decisions. I thought Oberyn and Ellaria were good picks as well.

Episode 9: A Lannister Pays His Debts (Tyrion kills Tywin); Runner-up title: Hear Me Roar, Wherever Whores Go, Hands of Gold
I prefer "Shitting Gold"

Ehh, it just makes more sense on so many levels. Jaime repays his debt to Tyrion for standing by, Tyrion swears to pay his vengeance on Jaime and Cersei, and he pays his debt to Tywin by killing him. It is really a prefect episode title in my opinion.

I hope he kills Shae too. I think the show has somewhat white-washed Tyrion and made Shae into a bigger character than necessary...but Shae needs to be killed exactly like in the book .

Thinking it through, I think they have a lot to set up before the Purple Wedding. Scenes I would think/like to happen before the Purple Wedding:
1) Tyrion meeting the Red Viper outside the city.
2) The Red Viper telling Tyrion when he first met him.
3) Small Council Meeting where Oberyn stands up to Tywin
4) Tywin demanding Jaime release his cloak and become heir of Casterly Rock
5) Brienne and Loras confronting each other.
6) Tywin telling Tyrion why he killed Elia's children, and that he does not plan to fulfill his end of the bargain.
7) Some other scene with Tyrion and Oberyn.
8) Jaime meeting with his updated Kingsguard.
8) Scene with Jaime and Tyrion, where Tyrion asks Jaime why he joined the Kingsguard. I really liked that story from Jaime's mind, and Tyrion seems to be the only person that Jaime would tell that story to. Maybe have the episode before the Purple Wedding have them talk together about how their father really hates all of his children deep down, and then it leads to that. Really think that would be an excellent added scene.
9) Two or three scenes setting up Dontos.
Plus I'm sure they'll have a scene or two with Cersei, Margeary, and Joffrey in it to set up the Purple Wedding.

If I had to take a guess, Tyrion will instead slit her throat.

Don't forget, the show will probably throw in an Oberyn sex scene .
