Some say that Ned had a crush on her/had the secks with her
I just can't buy into Ned not being loyal. It goes against the fabric of everything I believe about the guy and that his loyalty/honesty flat out got him killed. Now do I think Ned had a crush on her before his brother died and he was betrothed to Catelyn? Sure.
quote:
others say it was Brandon Stark instead
I can totally buy this just given on what was hinted and from everything we've heard about Brandon's demeanor/personality.
quote:
now people are saying Aerys
Apparently Aerys is a rapin' mofo given how he's been linked in theories to raping multiple women in ASOIAF. I don't particularly buy into any of that business though. JMO.

I do wonder if Selmy is a reliable narrator. I know George has said that Sansa isn't a reliable narrator, so I wonder if Selmy is the same case.
I think he is for the most part. But when it comes to someone he loved I can see where his opinion of whomever she shacked up with could be incredibly tainted.

Long time no see Carson. Great movie poster .

It makes me wonder if the Kingsguard and Night's Watch orders will be reformed after Winter ends. Too many strict rules...but I'm thinking the Night's Watch is over once the Wall comes crashing down.

I have always thought there was some baby switching going on at that time, sort of referred to in Jon's own switcheroo w Val's kid at the wall.
If anything I took it as lending credence to Aegon (Young Griff) being legit.
I think too many of us fell into the "Mummer's Dragon" trap. The dragon in question isn't necessarily a Mummer himself, just supported by one.
Questions that bother me about it being true:
-Why would Elia allow one child replaced/ taken to safety but not the other?
-Was she even aware a switch had been pulled?
And the biggie:
If he is the actual Aegon, not a Blackfyre, why would Varys and Illyrio invest so much in him?
And so the argument circles...

No people that I'm aware of, I just pulled that one out of my arse based in large part on:
- Aery has been rumored to be a raping mofo (I liked that one)
- Selmy was in love with her and I believe that if anyone other than a royal had "dishonored" her, Selmy would have dealt with them.
It would also add another twist of irony if Selmy is considered as honorable even though he knew what a vile SOB Aerys was but did nothing, even when the guy raped the woman that he loved, all for the sake of his "honor" as a knight of the Kingsgaurd, yet Jaime is considered dishonorable because he killed the bastard to save the innocent.
Hey, they don't call the thread "Crackpot ASOIAF Theories" for nothing!

See, I think LF violently raping Sansa is too predictable.
Here are my reasons: doesn't he want her 'intact' to marry HtH? Isn't that what is hinging on her marriage to Tyrion being annulled?
I can see him raping her after the wedding claiming lords right or whatever.

Yep, once her hymen is gone and especially if she is able to lure her away from Harry, Littlefinger is going to lose all restraint.

Dang. That's a very strong panel. Plenty of the heavy hitters - Danny, Jamie, Tyrion, Jon. And the rest of them ain't no slouches either.

Here's my biggest problem with Aegon being the real Aegon. The Golden Company hates Targs. They were founded by Blackfyres with the express purpose of overthrowing the Targ dynasty. They had never broken a contract before ADWD. Why would they throw their lot in with the same family they have been fighting for generations now? Because Illryio or Varys told them that Aegon wasn't really a Targ at all but actually a direct descendant of Bittersteel. A Blackfyre. Now given another Blackfyre pretender TGC decides to complete the mission they were created for, putting a Blackfyre on the Iron Throne.

Agreed. I can't wait for the Comic Con attendees to post panel videos on YouTube. Should be fun to watch.
Can't wait to see them talk about the Red Wedding, bear pit, cave scene, etc.

Right, I think Daenaerys recalls in one of the books a dinner where the GC captains were hosted by Viserys and they basically just ate, laughed in his face, and left.

See, I like the overall theory, especially because it would give Bloodraven a noble purpose with Bran if he ends up helping overthrow the Blackfyre imposter to help Jon Snow, the true Targ heir, back on the throne. But this is my problem with the Aegon is a Blackfyre theory as well.
Even if Aegon is some Blackfyre that Varys is trying to pass off as a Targ to take the throne, at some point they would HAVE to reveal him as a Blackfyre. Bittersteel and his followers wouldn't have been satisfied with the Targ name living on even if it was actually a BF that no one knew about.
They would want the realm to know. And if they reveal his true bloodline after he takes the throne that would just cause a whole subsequent war to break out from the houses that thought they were supporting a Targ right?
I'm not sure I can see that being Varys' end game.
Posted on 7/9/13 at 7:20 pm to Tiger Voodoo
Don't the Blackfyres basically consider themselves to be the true Targaryens? You could be right, but I think the ultimate goal is just to take over the throne by whatever means necessary.

I don't think that is hypothetical we will have to deal with. Aegon doesn't make it through WOW if you ask me. And besides I think TGC wouldn't care if he was Targ in name, they would know he was a Blackfyre in truth and thus feel like their' goal was complete.

I'd say its highly probable Aegon not only lasts WoW, but is sitting on the Iron Throne by the end of it. If he doesn't make it to the final one, then his introduction is 100% pointless.

Wouldn't that be a pretty Martin thing to do though? Bring in a useless character and hype him up to be something amazing only to have him die in the most anticlimactic way possible, like they storm KL and he gets an arrow through the neck from some random fricker. Right up Martin's alley.
And I don't think the Iron Throne will matter. 7 Kingdoms will be 7 Kingdoms. Others gonna frick some shite up.

I think he is definitely king by the end of TWOW. The question is, is he a mad Targ/Blackfyre or destine for greatness?
