Kinda random but one of the barns I ride at just had their first foal of the season.
His name? Tyrion.
(I kinda wish they used that name for a pony instead of a horse though...that would be perfect)

That's the question my friend. Or at least one of the questions.

Is Dany ever going to get to Asshia?
Seems like that's where she's suppose to go, then the wall.

Going east to go west no doubt.

Is that possible to do in the asoiaf universe? Is their world spherical like ours to where she could sail across the earth or is it flat?

i think its a reference about how she needs to go east to find or acquire something before she can go west

I always interpreted it as meaning she needs to continue traveling East to get to Westeros...

It's not benjen
I thought it was at first, but I'm as close to positive as you can get that Benjen is either dead or deep in the North tracking the Others movements. Coldhands I believe to be somewhat insignificant. He is obviously a former Nights Watch member, but the who is not that important IMO.

I also think GRRM discounted him as Benjen in an interview at one point too.
I still think Benjen is out there with The Others in some capacity. Or the hooded man at Winterfell (see the first few pages of this thread haha).

I just finished DwD about a month ago and a friend told me about this thread. Going to try to work my way through it over the next couple of days and get involved. My plan is to reread the series pretty soon, because it's so intricate that I think it would be like reading it for the first time.

I had a crazy thought about Coldhands being the 13 commander of the Wall the Night King, who became part Other but still alive. He knows all the secrets of the Wall but has hands cold and looks like one of the Others.

Do we know Quaithe's intentions? Who does she side with?

Any thoughts?
First message:

To go north, you must journey south(Maybe to win the war with the Others she must conquer Kings Landing first), to reach the west you must go east (To reach Westeros you must gather your army in the Eastern continent). To go forward you must go back and to touch the light you must pass beneath the shadow (A great stone beast takes wing from a smoking tower, breathing shadows.)(Also could be Stannis with Melisandre).
Second:
quote:
"The glass candles are burning (Oldtown). Soon comes the pale mare (Meeran), and after her the others. Kraken and dark flame (Euron and Gerold Dayne "DarkStar"), lion and griffin (Tyrion and Connington), the sun's son(Aegon from Martell) and the mummer's dragon (A cloth dragon sways on poles amidst a cheering crowd). Trust none of them. Remember the Undying(Below). Beware the perfumed seneschal(The ship). [3]
quote:
The warlock Pyat Pree persuades Daenerys Targaryen to seek answers in the House of the Undying. Inside, she passes through many rooms containing visions before she reaches the chamber of the Undying.
- A beautiful, naked woman being ravished by four of the dwarves who serve the house.
- A feast of slaughtered corpses holding cups, spoons, and food, with a dead man with a wolf's head sitting on a throne wearing an iron crown, apparently foreshadowing the Red Wedding.
- Daenerys' childhood home in Braavos.
- A throne room with dragon skulls on the walls where a king resembling Aerys II Targaryen sits on a barbed throne and appears to give the order to burn the Red Keep during the Sack of King's Landing.
- a man who looks like Viserys, but taller and with darker eyes, who says to a woman nursing a baby, "Aegon… What better name for a King… He is the Prince that was Promised, and his is the song of ice and fire"; and when the man’s eyes meet Dany’s, he says either to her or the woman with the baby, "There must be one more… The dragon has three heads", and he picks up a silver harp and begins to play;
- A "splendor of wizards" who falsely claim to be the Undying of Qarth and offer to teach Daenerys the secret speech of dragonkind.
Upon reaching the chamber of the Undying, Daenerys is spoken to in a barely perceptible whisper. The Undying call her "mother of dragons" and "child of three" and tell her some prophesies, saying "three fires must you light... one for life and one for death and one to love... three mounts must you ride... one to bed and one to dread and one to love... three treasons will you know... once for blood and once for gold and once for love...
" The Undying show Daenerys many more visions before attacking her and being slain by Drogon[2]:
Viserys' gruesome death.
- A tall lord with copper-skin and silver-gold hair beneath a banner of a fiery stallion, with a burning city in the background (this may be a glimpse at what Rhaego's future would have been).
- A dying prince (likely Rhaegar Targaryen) with rubies flying from his chest, mutters a woman's name with his last breath.
- A blue-eyed king who casts no shadow raises a red sword in his hand.
- A cloth dragon sways on poles amidst a cheering crowd.
- A great stone beast takes wing from a smoking tower, breathing shadows.
- Daenerys' silver trots through grass to a darkling stream under a sea of stars.
- A corpse standing at the prow of a ship with bright eyes and grey smiling lips.
- A blue flower growing from a chink in a wall of ice, filling the air with sweetness.
Any thoughts?

I read the first two books out of sequence and figured out Jon's secret right there. The ToJ just sealed it.

a couple of them i like
quote:
From a smoking tower, a great stone beast took wing, breathing shadow fire.
Could it be a stone griffin? If so, the reading could be that this presages the greyscale-infected Jon Connington. The shadow fire might represent the plague he may bring to Westeros, or his role as a Targaryen supporter. Another possible reading is that Aegon will become infected with greyscale due to his contact with Connington, and so could be the "stone dragon"
quote:
A little girl ran barefoot toward a big house with a red door.
Given events in A Storm of Swords, however, this may well represent Arya Stark running towards such a door in Braavos for some unknown reason. Certainly, there is no suggestion of Daenerys recognizing the girl.
