I have a friend that posts in these parts that's starting up the books. I told him he needs to get in this bitch once he's finished. He's finishing up Game of Thrones. I can't wait to see his reaction to the RW.

I stopped reading for like two days after the RW out of depression. I just didn't want to go on. It felt like as I was reading it time just slowed down around me.

You think so? You don't think they'd roll with Rhaegar's sister instead like they've tried to do?

Well once they find out Quentyn is dead and was spurned by Dany they may rather follow Aegon. Not to mention Doran would seemingly take the more assured alliance of the Golden Company who is already in Westeros as opposed to Dany because who knows what she is about to.

I would be anxious to see how Doran or someone else familiar with Elia would react to seeing Aegon, whether he has any resemblance to her or not.

Ok...so during my re-read of ADWD, I noticed something. Now, given what I've read in this thread, I'm sure some of yall may have picked up on this but I just did.

So I just read a Tyrion chapter where he is on the Selaesori Qhoran sailing to Mereen w/ Moqorro and Jorah.

Tyrion is sitting w/ Moqorro by the fire one night and he asks what the translation of Qhoran is...then Selaesori.

Moqorro says that Qhoran means "steward" or "magister" and Selaesori means "fragrant" or "flowery" so Tyrion starts calling the ship the Stinky Steward.

So that got me thinking....is this the "perfumed seneschal" that Dany should beware? And if it is, who should she beware of?

Thoughts?

There's also a corpse pickled in brine. Maester Aemon comes to mind here, but why would the Citadel send his body back across the narrow sea?

Can a wight be shipped in a barrel?

I have no doubt that Doran would throw his lot in with Aegon if Quentyn is dead. He'll marry one of the Sand Snakes off if not his own daughter, which was the plan in the first place before Viserys got all golden crowned.

When I was first reading the books I had heard the Red Wedding mentioned in one of the various ASOIAF threads here and kept waiting for something to happen with Melisandre and Stannis. Needless to say, I was shocked when I got to the actual Red Wedding.

I think I have cracked the Tower of Joy scenario:

1. Ned says thought Id see you on the Trident. Nope. Translation: We are not with RT.

2. Ned says thought Id see you in the throne room. Nope. Translation: We are not with the Mad King.

3. Ned says thought Id see you fighting with Southern allegiance. Nope. Translation: Not with Martells and South.

4. Ned says thought you would be with Viserys and crew protecting them. Nope. Translation: Not protecting Red Targ heirs.

These three Kingsguard have broken off to protect the true Blackfyre heir. They have clearly stated they are not with RT, King, South, or Targ supporters. That only leaves Blackfyres.

people seem to have misunderstood what Dayne and company have said. The head of the Kings guard and most decorated knight seem to have missed every significant event in Roberts Rebellion. What the h were those guys doing?

Protecting the one Rhaegar believed is the prince that was promised.

so they decided to lose the 7 Kingdoms to protect a prophecy. Doesnt really make sense. RT was never the King and was dead before the Mad King. They could not have been under his command. I am thinking the underlying theme of the series is prophesy tend to make characters make them come true in attempting to avoid them.

or to clarify the chasing of prophesy only makes them become true in a slightly different way than expected. The three heads will be Dany, tyrion, and jon but they are not exactly Targs.

Why is that? Aerys may have put them under Rhaegar's command, and Rhaegar could have told them that even if he was killed, that they are still to protect Lyanna and the Prince that was Promised. Plus why would Aerys want to protect a Blackfyre, and why the frick would a Blackfyre have been there in the first place?

I think readers are missing a obvious point getting caught up in prophesy and such. If Bran discovers a way to control the wights in the Winter and teams up with Jon to wipe the entire realm out it doesnt really matter who Jons parents are.

Why would the Mad King do that and leave himself exposed in time of war. Or not have his best knights at the Trident to defend RT himself.
