Oak Grove New Orleans style spicy chicken fry. I use this to fry chicken as well as fish. Egg wash then batter, that's it. Not additions needed. Pick some up at Albertsons and give this a try.
What's your go to?

I generally use Zat's Crispy Southern for fish. Straight from ice water to dry to grease. I never use egg wash for fish.

Well you also use an egg wash so your opinion doesn't mean all that much to me regarding frying fish.

Never seen egg wash on fish, except at RedLobster.

Ok douche bag. Go back to the OT. If you don't like it just do it your way, not sure what the problem is.

I've seen egg wash used on fish tons of times all over the place. It's just what you are used to and what you like.

Lighten up Francis. You asked for what people use. I said Zat's and you said its too bland. Don't ask for opinions if you are going to shite on them. See how easy it is to be a sensitive little douche?
And I even put the little hoping you would realize it was a lighthearted poke.

Crispy Southern Style a close second. Chef KD's can be hard to find without going to the AP.

Flour, corn meal, spices. If you can't do that get someone else to fry the food.

See the thing is I could mix my own but I'm satisfied with some of the commercially available products...so I'll just use them.

By no means am I a fried food expert, but I find most mixes to be too heavy in corn meal, so I usually just do the same, and mix my own, but then I see the same thing in premixed cake mixes and pancake or biscuit mixes as well. I already have the components on hand in my pantry, and ratios are quite easily come by. It just ends up being paying for convenience and packaging for me, and in fish fry mixes I can lessen the amount of corn meal and amp up the spices if I like, plus put freshly ground spices in it. If you don't have that on hand, or it's just some quick get it done thing I get it. It's just a little too much corn meal. Oysters fine, but not for fish, shrimp, okra, or gator even IMO.

I gave my opinion on your choice of fish fry, I didn't say your opinion didn't mean much to me bc we disagreed. There's a difference. You're a douche bag all the time, but here's a smiley so you know it's just a lighthearted poke

Hard to beat Louisiana Fish Fry's seasoned fish fry in the blue bag for fish. For shrimp, oysters, and chicken, you can't beat their shrimp and oyster fry either. Tried their new "cajun fry" and the LRA this weekend and it was pretty good too, just a little too hot for my taste.
