Bduhon Training Camp Day 7 02AUG12

The team went opposite of their normal schedule today doing the team-on drills first and then moving to one-on-one group drills. The offense looked great all day especially the RB's.
The RB's by far had their best day in camp as a whole. Ingram, Thomas, and Sproles all had TD's and all had long yardage carries. Pierre Thomas looked like his usual self, bursting through lanes and using his great field sight to find the open space. Mark Ingram had his best day of camp with 4-5 big carries in the team-on drills. Ingram used good judgement in utilizing blocks all day. On his first play of the team-on drills, Ingram ran off guard and literally ran over J. Casillas. Ingram had a gorgeous screen play for a TD in which he made Corey White fall to his knee. Darren Sproles was definitely the player of the day. Every time Sproles touched the ball it seemed like he was scoring. He ended up with 5 TD's on the day, three of which were 10+ yards. Sproles first play of the day was a draw play in which he sped through the line and right by D. Hawthorne to scored before anyone touched him. Sproles also looked great in punt returns with two moderate runs of 20 and 26 yards.
Jimmy Graham looked good again today, but also had two more easy drops. Graham could have a big problem going forward if he can not hold onto the easy catches. It seemed on both of his drops today he needed to get back to fundamentals and catch the ball before heading up field.
Adrian Arrington continues to be the most impressive player so far in camp. He looks to be in the best shape of his career and has picked up a bit of extra speed. He could be very dangerous if he becomes the deep threat Meach was but has the build and skill set of Colston. After every play, AA is following Brees around asking him questions and getting pointers. He is also seen lingering around L. Moore a ton, and those two guys seem to love it. I would not be surprised at all if AA takes the WR2 spot with Moore in the slot.
During the one-on-one drills, Brees made two nice throws for TD's. Colston and Devery both made nice grabs for the scores and Devery seemed to use that confidence in the rest of the drills making multiple diving catches from Chase Daniels.
J. Casillas had a good showing today for the defense. He was filling up lanes and tackling with great technique all morning. Its good to see Casillas making strides to stay in stride with a deep LB core of talent so far.
Malcolm Jenkins looked fast and in every play at the beginning of camp, but never seemed to be in the right place to make a play fast enough. Today was completely different as Jenkins had multiple pass break-ups in the red zone work to save two TD's from Brees to Graham. I am excited to see what he looks like in preseason under Spag's new system.
Joe Morgan seems to be leading the way in the deep Special Teams battles. He is a burner and reads lanes well on kickoffs and punt returns. Morgan beat everyone around him on a punt return this morning, scoring from 50-60 yards out.
Hartley and Kasay were at it again today both with stellar performances. I still believe it is Hartley's job to lose, but Kasay showed some power today hitting kicks from 42 and 48 yards, so things could get very interesting going forward.
Akiem Hicks was back at practice in only a helmet and shoulder pads due to new CBA rules. He spent most of the morning conditioning and running sprints.
Little note-Ingram and Grubbs were both full go today with no limitations.
Practice on Friday is in the morning again at 8:50. It is open to the public with a predicted 90 degrees and 20% chance of rain.

Great review. Keep them coming
And this:
Could get interesting for our offense
Good for him if he can finally make a big splash with this team.

I would hate to be the guy that's gonna have to make cuts at the WR position. I guess having so much talent there is a good problem to have though.

Bduhon55 stacked. Blueslover fricked.
I think that Bduhon55 and myself need to start clearing space on our mantles already for our respective Brees and Wilkerson Datties

Adrian Arrington has always, always been good in the preseason and training camp. Even when he's been asked to play and come off the practice squad, he's played well IMO. It's about damn time is all I'm saying.
All aboard!
All aboard!

I've been reading this alot lately, and I have to disagree. There is a benefit to knowing who your guys are because:
1. The nature of having competition for a position means that you have a new void at the position. Meaning, the guy that couldn't be beat out is gone and now the guys that couldn't get that roster spot are duking it out.
2. There's only so many snaps to go around. If you have multiple guys competing for the same spot, they individually don't get as much work in.

WR is the like the ideal position for practice and training camp, that's why. WR's always look great in preseason and then drop off into the season because all of sudden all the defenders want to knock their lights out.

appreciate the effort, would definitely like to hookup if I can get to some practices
-I believe the RB group has a chance to elevate the offensive power to even a greater level. Remember last year Ingram was dinged a lot and Ivory didn't play until after PUP. It's a keep'em fresh rotation of guys with different skills sets that can really keep a defense on their heels. (Think how Brees spreading the ball around makes it difficult to shutdown the passing game)
The team has been very solid in manning positions by "who plays best". Vitt said this week, "there's no scholarships, 90% of these guys have to compete to keep their jobs". With that, AA & Morgan producing solidly, and Devery having a poor showing thusfar, ya gotta put Devery's spot into question. Still a lot of camp for him to turnaround but I'm just sayin...
We have seen Casillas show the necessary skills. He's reached the point where the ability to stay on the field is the bigger question. No injuries and he could have a solid role going into the season.

Water is wet.
Thanks again for this.

Speed has always been his down fall. We all know he has the size and hands to make the team. Even with an increase in speed, I just dont see him filling the deep threat role. I think Joe Morgan is a little better fit for that. I see AA being much closer to Colsten skill wise.

I honestly can't think of anyone else doing this better than you do.
You are part of what makes ST the best board on this site.

Awesome job once again.
A few questions if you don't mind:
How did Morgan look outside of special teams?
Is Toon settling in, or still dropping easy catches?
How did Tez look today?
