This!

Bowden, Meyer, Tressel, Stoops, Kelly, all have lost in NC games.

None of them have improved? Spurrier is doing pretty well at S. Carolina, Kelly has Oregon rolling......

Strange some Tiger fans simply can't admit the same thing about their own coach.

Of course I don't think they're the same players out of high school. But are we talking about player development or in game coaching? Assistant Coaches and strength coaches deserve credit for development of plays (kudos to Les for putting those guys in place). But I don't see how he has improved that much, Les has grown with the job but his stubbornness gets in the way at times. He did a tremendous job in 05 with the hurricanes and distractions the man is stubborn and I think that could be his downfall.

Well, I'm looking forward to the upcoming season and hoping that the quality players will be utilized to their max, it could be a dominant year for the Tigers. And as I said earlier, I think Miles is a quality individual.....and hopefully he will be a better coach during the year.

Well, there's room for improvement for everyone, no doubt.

Who said he was the best ever? Is Coach Saban the best? 2010 IB blowing a 24 point lead? Urban? Petrino? Spurrier? Name a coach that hasn't hosed up. It's the double standard of ButthurtNation that is dishonest.

When you tank it in a national title game and fail to give good answers as to what happened and to change nothing about how to beat Bama on offense. All good grace disappears (at least for me).

What's he going to say? "Jarrett got that deer-in-the-headlights look and froze up in the 11/5 game and there was no way he was going to beat this team." What would be the point. "I'm not confident Zach is ready to start." Would this be helpful?

We didn't beat them the first time on offense. Our D and kicking game did. The assumption appears to be that there was a good O option. I'm not sure that assumption is true.

This. Once they stopped our run game and had success passing I knew it was over. There was no scheme that could beat that defense. I would have liked lee in just to see what he could do though. He deserved that chance.

Gezz, what happened was that Bama's D kicked our arse, our O line couldn't punch out 40 freaking yds in 4 quarters of football, and our passing game sucked.

Why would anyone want to wallow in that crap...we got beat in the last game of the year...get over it and move on.

No doubt recruiting has stepped up, but I've been wondering how much impact Katrina had on his first couple of classes. His first full class was 2006, right after that fall.

miles first class was mediocre. to be expected on a coaches change plus saban cruised in anyway. in addition to the katrina effect, we had the awful OL attrition and i don't think miles will ever let that happen again. our '09 OL was the worst i've ever seen at LSU.

Poor poor coaching. Sadly, you'll probably see more of it this year. So, no, he hasn't improved as a coach in my opinion.

you are blind. yes, the staff and the players laid an egg that day; no more and no less. happens to EVERY TEAM AT EVERY LEVEL IN EVERY SPORT. to think otherwise only reveals your lack of actual knowledge of competitive sports. judging miles and co. by their entire body of work proves your ignorance.

No improvement, has regressed. Offense is unimaginative.

Areas for Improvement: it was nothing less than sheer football stupidity to mothball the O we used for 8 games last year. Hope he learned something from that and will never, ever repeat this mistake again.

I agree. I think this is one of his stronger points, after each "problem" of the past seasons,(Co-Def. Coordinators, Clock Management, Better Assistants), CLM seemed to address the issue and correct it. And yet he is still leading one of the top 2 programs in the country the last 2 seasons!!

I referenced his inexplicable coaching decisions, or lack thereof, in the NC game. I saw no improvement in coaching skills, especially game adjustments. The game plan, whatever it was, wasn't working...so he stayed with the game plan, which wasn't working.

Good. And I hope it makes you miserable.

I think he's always been a good coach. The main difference I do see is the emphasis on special teams.

Otherwise I don't see much difference.

He could have explained why Mett sucked so bad. Mett has to be terrible if he wasn't better than the worst qb in NCAA history. Lee made 2 bad passes against Bama and never saw the field again. Please go back and watch the UGA game. How the hell was JJ ever allowed to touch the field again? He contributed zero to that game and was as inaccurate as I've ever seen any qb. Same story in the BCSNCG, but no change. I think Mett was ready, but miles gave up. Kind of funny how Mett was terrible on 1/9, but great 2 months later according to the coaches. I'm just glad Lee and that other guy are gone, so miles can find a different position to screw up.

a few pasts posts from our friend beejon

I wouldn't want anyone else as coach at LSU. Nobody's better....

If I had a son playing football and could choose any coach for him to play for it would be Les Miles.

quote:

I realize there are great schools and great coaches out there, but I know of no better coach than coach Miles and none with higher character.

quote:

100 years from now when the stories of LSU football are told, the legend of Les Miles will be one of the favorites.

I count myself lucky to be watching this history, which may never be equaled, in the making.

quote:

If Lee was strong enough to take us forward, Lee would be playing more. It's not because Miles dislikes Lee and likes Jefferson, it's because as a coach he sees and knows each player at a level the fan cannot.

I trust Miles' judgment on this. I think Lee has great character and it seems that the offense runs smoother when he's in, but that's just me sitting and watching a game on tv. I don't study the game films, I don't know the intricacies of coaching, I'm just a fan.
