Will La have a 5* this year?

When the 2012 HS season is over will LA produce a 5* for the 2013 class?

Tim Williams is currently 23rd on Rivals and has looked impressive in camps this summer. If La was to have one, it would be Williams.

Well...who knows?
There are several recruiting services/sites, and when you look at the "on field results," versus these services' assessment of talent, there is a HUGE DISCONNECT, in other words, the evaluators seem to do an inferior job, with kids in Louisiana. Unless you are in a "metro area," like N.O./Shreveport/Lake Charles/B.R./Lafayette/and Monroe.......you will be ignored.
Let's look at Boutte's performance at a "cluster evaluation in Atlanta," he seemed to have performed very well and ACTUALLY STOOD OUT.
So you ask about 5*'s? Louisiana is not adequately represented. This has been going on for quite some time.
One of those sites focuses on Texas; another focuses on Alabama; the other on Florida and Louisiana's population does not warrant the same level of "bias/representation."
So we may get one 5*, wheras we may have 6 or 7. I don't mind the under-representation. Stars are really not as important, as representated.

But yet the Tigers have to fight those others from taking many away from this state. The low ratings seems to be in case the Tigers keep most of them.

Williams is the only chance but I doubt he stays up at #23 to get the 5th star.

White and Boutte have been blowing up camps against top notch talent. White is making a splash on both sides of the ball actually.

Williams will probably be a 5* on Rivals if he continues on his pace.
Boutte might get a massive bump to 5* too. I don't see why not, he's dominating top competition at Rivals camp and making people look overrated...
Considering how much stock Rivals puts into those camps, he should be at least a top 50 recruit...
If not, we'll hear the conspiracy theorists come out on how much they hate us.

If you are talking Rivals, if memory serves, they rate about 30+ players a year 5*. They start out with about half that amount which in a rare compliment to them, I agee with that. That gives them room to expand the 5* once the players have their SR season. Since their ratings like everyone else's has been pretty pitiful in recent years, I don't really care. And IF you believe the # of Rivals Top 100 players from LA, I do remember years ago that LA used to have 5 or 6 every single year which wouldn't be surprising...how many states in the US really have 0 most of the time(WY, AK, DE, ME, CN, NM, UT, HI, ID, etc). This year there are 4 from LA but only 1 in like the top 60 or so. Either the talent in LA isn't what it used to be or Rivals is not evaluating it right...got to be one of those two things because LA players are not rated as good overall as they used to be. This has been going on the last several years...really I noticed the change after Katrina except for the year (2011 class I think).

LSU does an outstanding job of keeping recruits in-state. No program can sighn all of their in-state recruits.

Melvin Jones should get a close look. Kid is a beast. Hes strong enough to play on the D-Line, but his speed is what is most impressive for his size.

Boutte could b/c I could see them giving a dominant OL a 5th star, but they've been really good and stingy with 5 stars for the past 3 years.
I for one like how they only give out a handful.

Boutte probably has the best chance.

There will be a significant bump for Boutte but I highly doubt a 5*...Boutte will be more in line with a jump into the top 100 somewhere from 50 - 100.
Just my opinion.

How often do recruiting services give a guard 5 stars? I can't think of any in recent years.

Boutte is a long shot but Tim Williams will likely get his 5th star. On rivals last update they always hand out about 10 more 5 stars. I don't necessarily agree with it but usually they start out with about 10 then go up into the teens then 20 then around 30.

I have grown to place little faith in Rivals and the rankings they provide.
Not to dish Ware, but he was a five star and he is no Monte Ball..I like Ware so don't start bashing me.
My point is that our coaches have done a great job of finding diamonds in the rough like Mo and HB...I am sure that they will continue.

TM7 was a top 200 player in the country and top 5 in the state. Hardly a diamond in the rough.
Claiborne is a great example though. Would have been a 2* had he not committed to LSU.

Insane Mo wasnt rated higher. From a very poor area, nut even i could tell the kid had skills, had some sick highlights. But these guys play both ways in hs down here. I guess its hard to project the guy as a top cb when hes playing qb for his hs.
