most of us know star ratings are way overrated
i think les and co. have proven year in and year out they bring in top-notch athletes. last year les got hammered by some ppl that said it was a down year. im not so sure of that. i guess we will see in a few yrs

I agree about the rating system which is quite frankly a joke. But let's for one second assume that the rating services are FLAWLESS in their stars ratings. Where do they take into account the NEED of the team. I see teams like S Carolina a couple of years ago sign 8 secondary guys....8! If they needed those fine, but if they didn't, then any "stars" for some of those guys are totally wasted because they are transfer bait. Last year, LSU's biggest need by far was LBer. If they took a high 3* guy there instead of a 5* RB, which was the better move by Coach Les Miles? So besides questionable ratings, the services don't know teams well enough to rate "balance of class" or "positional need". IF they don't do that, then you flush the rest of their efforts down the toilet...totally worthless. Like I said, the perfect example was last season. high 3* LBer with potential for LSU or a 5* RB. I know who I would have taken and LSU took the right guys.

So we may get one 5*, wheras we may have 6 or 7. I don't mind the under-representation. Stars are really not as important, as representated.

I agree with everything you posted except for that............

TM7 was a top 200 player in the country and top 5 in the state. Hardly a diamond in the rough.

I don't agree. TM7 was a two star until LSU and (I believe) Bama got all over him. Then Rivals gave him 4 stars. The point is that Rivals had no idea until elite programs started recruiting him.

Tre’Davious White will definitely be moving up.

7. Tre’Davious White, ATH, Shreveport (La.) Green Oaks

The Top247 LSU commit can flat out fly. He really stood out at the cornerback position, with his great closing speed and ability to break on the football. White has long arms, and was also a key component to the Bootleggers offense.

rivals has shown that it is willing to have over 30 5-stars at the end of the season, so all tim williams has to do is maintain this progress

Williams has the best shot just because of where he is currently ranked by most sites. May be the past edge rusher in the class. Those are guys that get ranked high.

Boutte has a slight chance but it's tough for pure OGs to get a 5th unless we're talking Scout.

Watch White. He's going to fly up boards. He may be the #1 guy in the state come February.
