That's absurd. Most games are played onsaturdays and they won't the championship to be on Monday. I know the already play the championship during the week but this has got to change.

Still thanking God that I barely but surely missed the point cutoff on the 1/9 tickets.

More people watch TV on weekdays.
People watching TV = money for network
Money for network = when the game will be played.

This. Once NCAA over, NFL takes over Sat & Sunday slots for its use.

I posted this in another thread:

My main problem with the playoffs is how it will be scheduled. I'm not sure if this is 100% accurate, but this was from an article I read.
quote:
WHEN WILL THE GAMES BE PLAYED? The semifinals will be played on Dec. 31 and/or Jan. 1. College Advertisement football used to own New Year's Day. The Bowl Championship Series got away from that. The leaders of the sport want to reclaim that day. The championship game will always be played on the first Monday that is at least six days after the semifinals. The first "Championship Monday" is Jan. 12, 2015.

If the freaking Superbowl can be played on a Sunday night, then CFB can and should be played on Saturday or Sunday as well.

Some will say that it is because the NFL playoffs and that it needs to move to accommodate that. This brings me to my second gripe. If New Years is sacred for CFB, then hold the damn championship game on New Years day!!! No bowl games should be held after Jan. 1 unless it is the National Championship.

Enough of this BS with lesser games on Jan. 2, 3, 5, 8, etc. Hold the semi-final round of games 2 Saturdays after the Conf. Championships as the 1st two bowl games to kick off bowl season. Then have the winners close of the CFB bowl season on, or as near as possible to Jan. 1 while still on a weekend for travel.

2012:
Semi-Finals Saturday Dec. 22nd
Finals Saturday January 5th

2013:
Semi-Finals Saturday Dec. 21nd
Finals Saturday January 4th

2014:
Semi-Finals Saturday Dec. 20nd
Finals Saturday January 3th

It did suck for tailgating in New Orleans. The shitstains still working on Monday downtown kept bitching about noise. Actually had the cops show up twice because the music was too loud.

They are not moving it to Saturday. Probably because ESPN hate LSU right?

They should make it a Sunday primetime game during the NFL wildcard weekend.

Why not on a Friday or Saturday night? Monday is the shittiest day of the week. It's depressing anyway but doubly so when you wake up Tuesday morning and your team laid a turd like we did this past January.

I'm sure they don't want to share the all-day lead-in coverage with the NFL.

Monday means a two whole extra days of hotel rooms, bar tabs, and meals eaten out for the host city and its merchants. Don't underestimate that lobby. People who aren't going to the game don't matter--they will watch it no matter what night it's on.

Plus, as stated above, the NFL has Saturday and Sunday booked up during January.

TV viewership is driving the playoff train, for sure. But not as to what day it is played on or where. That viewership will still be there whether the game is on Monday or Saturday, in New Orleans or Timbuktu.

You pulled my quote completely out of context in order to misinterpret it. Quite a feat of reasoning, there.

I grabbed a quote off an article and I think that may have been a picture that got carried over (Advertisement) and I didn't notice it. The quote should just say:
quote:

WHEN WILL THE GAMES BE PLAYED? The semifinals will be played on Dec. 31 and/or Jan. 1. College football used to own New Year's Day. The Bowl Championship Series got away from that. I get what you are saying about the bowls are all about making money. I am just saying that I think it would be much more of an event that fans could and would travel to if it was held on weekends. I also like the symmetry of the 3 biggest games kicking off (Semi-Finals) and wrapping up (Finals) bowl season.

I would love to go back in time, and remove myself from that stadium.
