Are there any paddler's left?
Well, me...
I still would like to have a peddler one day. But I don’t do a lot open water, long distance type kayaking. It’s probably been 15 years since I’ve saltwater fished.
The longest paddle I do is in Two O’clock Bayou and that’s about 7-8 miles round trip. And honestly it ain’t that bad of a paddle when you stretch it out all day.

I’ve been in plenty and the cost alone keeps me from buying one. Not that I’m poor, I’m just miserly.

You live in Laffy don't you? You should go on our next Salty Boot Trip. You'll forget freshwater quickly. Except when Sacalait are spawning. Lol

If I had to get a paddle it would be a Bonafide hands down. I also think they are going to eventually find a way to retrofit a pedal drive in that removable console.

I grew up in Lafourche Parish and spent tons of time in Grand Isle, PAC, Dularge, Cocodrie, etc. Bass fishing is my thing. Can’t explain it, it just is.

My coworker said the exact same thing.

River bass fishing, small ponds, minimalists, and dual-purpose fishing/recreational use will still necessitate paddle crafts.
But the pedal:paddle ratio has increased dramatically in the past 2 or 3 years. Once a reliable pedal drive system from one of the big manufacturers hits the market in the $1200 range, I think you'll see the last big push for pedal over paddle.
Since I love to river fish, I'll always have my Old Town Predator MX though.
That being said, the Bonafide yaks are right up there with the best in the business for paddlers.

I just don’t see this happening any time soon.

But it’s not as sexy as the SS127 Woodsman.

My understanding is that they're basically using an exact clone of the original Mirage drive because the patent expired.

Pretty much. I actually like the layout of the Pelican, it just isn't the prettiest and I am worried about quality control.

I think it’s supposed to release soon. So, we’ll find out more about it after reviews start coming in. Cause quality control and durability is something I wonder about with the cheaper drives coming out.

Put a pool noodle on that cross bar.
Posted on 11/23/18 at 8:39 pm to LSUlefty
Why?
I toss a couple pool noodles in the bed when loading so the bed liner isnt scuffing the crap out of the hull everytime I load or unload. But the bed extender isnt abrasive so I havent used pool noodles on it
ETA: or you talking about using noodle to prevent sliding on the crossbar?

Me and bud hit PAC yesterday pre front, was on the water at 5
Wind was calm in the morning, then picked up but was able to find some nice reds and specks under the lights, waters clean AF
Then we moved in the marsh, fished main channels with moving water
Matrix shad (green hornet) and vudu shrimps did the trick
