I am tired of loading my 2 kayaks on the roof of my jeep. Anyone use a trailer? Seems like one would be too light and bounce all over the place.

I bet that is a pain in the arse. Not sure on the trailer q though

I don't look forward to loading mine on my suv.
The ratchet straps and all that just takes time cause I don't want to frick up and have that kayak go flying off down the highway
would be like a flying torpedo through someones wind shield

The ratchet straps are the pain in the arse. My Uncle built me a rack but can't find anyway to mount it to the jeeps roof rack.
Wish I were OT rich and had 2 on Verret and 2 at home

Hence the reason for 30lb paddleboards.

You must look like a topwater bait to those gators.

Haven't come across any yet, but then again the 2-3 seas on open lake keep me in bayou tranquil for the most part

Cam straps >>>>>>>>>> ratchet straps. Much quicker

Strong and versatile, I use them for many different applications which is why I can't believe I didn't think of them with my whole hoist predicament.
My Hoist system.
Lots of places to get them online. I got mine at Home Depot. Just make sure you get the one with dual hooks. Alot of them online just have one hook which is only good if you're wrapping something, not securing something from 2 points.

Just came out the closet and bought my 1st yak. Been reading up and learning but was wondering what you guys do with your catch until you make it in? My first thought was to use a stringer but I'm not sure if there is a better method.

I've yet to keep a fish I've caught out of my yak

Me either, but I have a stringer on hand for when i do.

We were on the north end of the lake two weeks ago and i was thinking about how nice it would be to fish around the cypress trees in a kayak.... About five minutes later a 7-8 ft gator swam 20 ft from the boat

Buy one of those $10 California Innovations tote coolers from Walmart or Sams'. You might have to replace it once or twice a year but it's only $10 and weighs next to nothing. Then put a tournament weigh bag in it to make it more puncture proof. For $25 you will have a great kayak fish bag.
CI Cooler Tote
Weigh Bag
You can find these weigh bags at Academy, Cabelas, BassPro, etc.
Depending on the layout of your kayak and your personal comfort zone, you can either keep it in your tankwell or on the front deck. I keep my just past my feet and just pull it to me when needed. I have it attached to a retractable dog leash just in case it slips off the deck (hasn't happened in 3 years so far) I won't lose my catch.
