It is a sad day when people at LSU are jumping all over the baseball coach and there is not way to logically defend him.
I am ready for a change. And it isn't because we lost to SB. Batting sucked all year except for RR and then right at the end PM made some changes and Batting got better in down the stretch thank goodness because RR finally hit his slump. But then when SB came to town RR was human and everyone else went back to there old selves.
So this crappy batting has been going on all year. It isn't like this is the first time this subject has come up.

He must be self scouting LSU.

Wonder what Skips opinion is on the matter. He couldn't have been at all pleased with LSU approach to the plate and lack of hitting.

Tegre
Since you know so much and since you can explain it, please tell us if we should get rid of all of our players? Or, is there anyone on this team other than Rhymes that you think has a good approach?

Ok: Hitting coach is overrated. Kids can hit or they can't. Who recruited these kids who can't hit? Sanchez & PM. I get tired of Head coaches not being held accountable. Tiny Stony Brook came into Alex Box & dominated LSU. Stony Brook! If PM wants to blindly & stubbornly defend Sanchez, he should be told there has to be improvement in hitting. If not, Merry Christmas to him & Sanchez. I'm ready for LSU to hit like LSU used to hit. nd Sanch

5 pages now...and still no one on the Rant has been able to tell me what our hitting philosophy is as a program here at LSU
here ya go....
swing hard in case you hit it

I have a great deal of relief knowing the abundance of excellent baseball coaches right here on this very board.

Maybe PM should start considering recruiting talented kids who really want to come to LSU even if they don't fit his personal mold.

Man, he is actually calling his hitting coach overrated. I agree.
What a shame! If I were Javi, I'd sulk.

Players can't hit isn't the reason for hitting coach.
Mainieri ought to keep his mouth shut because he's been pretty disappointing the last 3 seasons for such an arrogant guy.

Exactly! I know it is being taught just not at LSU. One of the main reason they hit into so many DP's this year because they try and pull everything
wrong, because they are so freaking slow!

asllan you miss the point entirely. The players wouldn't be at a major baseball power if they did not have some physical abilities. However that alone is usually not sufficient to excel each time they move up a level.
If hitting instruction wasn't necessary you can bet the majors wouldn't waste time and money trying to help the most gifted of athletes who have more physical abilities than the thousands who never make it to the bigs.
And I think Nola had a great approach and technique and Katz did most of the time. I think Ross and Moore are close and with instruction could improve greatly. The rest....not imo.

UCLA hit .50 better this year after hiring Rex Peters... FIFTY frickING points better..and almost every player in lineup improving greatly. Ya..I'm sure that's just a coincidence

PM is digging his own grave with all the comment he made the past few years from taking a year off to this.
