ESPN: Starting Gausman for both games is controversial.

This was said by one of the guys on ESPN SportscenterU.
One of the reasons: Because PM was putting Gausman's career at risk and Gausman is no longer just LSU's player. He is part of a major league team now.
Legit concern or manufactured controversy?
No link because it was stated on TV.
My opinion: When LSU starts making coaching decisions based off of the concerns of a major league team, that when we need to demand they start funding our program. Short of that, they can kiss my ace. I have to leave now, but will be back to discuss later.

Not a real issue.. The kid pitched 12 pitches in the first game

finished the game and then right in to the next. no big deal and was a good move

I thought it was the right choice.

They should be questioning all the pitches stony brooks ace threw in the past week.

ESPN talking heads just looking for something to fill air time. He only threw 12 pitches and the down time between games was minimal.

Not an issue. PM said if Gausman had to go 3-4 innings in the first game, he would have been done for the weekend.

This. It's not like we had him throw 120 pitches on two days rest like Stony Brook did with Tyler Johnson last week.

Exactly...and I think he threw appx. 98 in the second, which totals 110. That would be a regular outing for him.

pm made t decision he thought gave us the best chance to win both games. i doubt he made decision based on the fact that kg wasn't going to be here next year. the first part went according to plan..12 pitches. if we had gotten a few more hits and won the game thye would be calling pm a genius.

Yea the Stony Brook guy is the guy with the problem

And considering Dunn came from the Orioles and wouldn't screw them over, I'm pretty sure he had things under control while observing how Gausman was pitching.

MLB can kiss my arse. That guy said "there's more important things at stake than gettin to Omaha". That's a bullshite thing to say I think. As a college coach with a team a win away from Omaha and your job security is based on your success, there's nothing more important than getting to the Blatt. Gausman isn't the Orioles yet. He hasnt signed. They knew he was still playin and will probably pitch a few more times. If you dont like it, don't draft him.

No controvesy at all.
And he is not an Oriole until he signs.

Screw ESPN. I am so sick and tired of hearing about the "next level" every inning of every game. Why must the analysts do this with college baseball, but they don't with college football and basketball?

I wouldn't be surprised if Gausman had asked Paul to close the shite out for him.

It was basically a bull pen session..
If Gausman can't handle 12 pitches, sit 1 hour, then pitch a game.. he has to worry.

CPM made the right call. If we had won the game, they would have called it a brilliant decision.
ESPN is never wrong....
