I guarantee you whoever doesn't pitch Friday between Gausman/Nola will be pitching Sunday if LSU wins game 1.

If Nola pitches Friday and wins. Eades will go Saturday and if LSU is winning in the 9th, Mainieri will let Gausman close it out as a curtain call for the Box.

Book it.

Yeah, I'll bet anything that the guy who doesn't start Friday will start Saturday, regardless of Friday's outcome.

You have clearly countered that argument.

Yeah it did. He even said that before and after.

No, it didn't. Ranaudo pitched on Friday, there was zero chance he was going to start on Monday or Tuesday.

Really? Go back and watch his press conference following game 3.

Did you watch any of the college world series before the finals? Look up when Ranaudo pitched last. Thats the reason he started the last game.

I disagree with Broski on the saving Gausman for Game 3 if you win Game 1. That only happens in a tournament when pitchers have already been pitching during the week. LSU has enough confidence in Gausman to win his game no matter who the other team starts. You don't give away Game 2 just to rest for Game 3. You never know what could happen, it could rain during Game 3 and your best pitcher could throw 4 pitches to the backstop with a wet ball. Notice that LSU threw Eades last Sunday night even though we had a game to play with. Close a series out when you get a chance, don't let the other team hang around.

However, I 100% agree with Broski that people are over reacting to Eades. He didn't suck last Sunday. He ran out of gas with 2 outs in the 6th inning. Not good, but not terrible. Don't forget he threw 7 shutout innings vs State in his previous start, and the week before, won the SEC regular season championship game at South Carolina.

I really think people here underestimate Eades to a ridiculous extreme. He is our weakest weekender, yes, but he has good stuff and hasn't been terrible
.

Are you thinking back to the beginning of the season? He hasnt been very good lately and PM has been giving him way to long of a leash. Plenty of bullpen to come in for LSU when Eades starts his struggles.

Yea the bashing of Eades is a bit retarded. He has done decent his last few starts. Im not too concerned. With that being said he will start game 3 with the entire bullpen at his disposal behind him.

Read my above post. Now go back and tell me about Eades previous two starts prior to the Regional? What else do you want from a #3 starter?

I'll watch it when I get home from work. Regardless of what he said or didn't say, Ranaudo wasn't starting game 1 or 2 of that series after starting on Friday. There is a remote possibility he would have brought him back for a short outing on Tuesday if they lost game 1 and it was do or die.

Exactly, it wasn't do or die so he went with Ross.

Keep in mind, Nola threw 8 innings last week and missed a start with arm tiredness.

I think you're also forgetting how much trouble Eades tend to get himself into. Yes he didn't give up many runs but between that game and his previous start he was constantly having to work out of jams. I'm not sure SB's lineup would be as forgiving. I don't like this match up for Eades

Going back to my original post, health and rest always plays a factor. Gausman will not be "saved" for game 3. If he doesn't pitch Friday he will pitch Saturday unless he has some kind of arm issue that causes him to be pushed back again.

ETA: It wasn't just that he wasn't in a do or die situation...he wasn't in a do or die situation and Ranaudo would have been on extremely short rest. It was a no brainer.

He's not perfect, but he's our #3 starter. He's got great stuff, and earlier in the year he was every bit as good as Gausman. Some people are acting like he should be removed from the starting rotation. I promise you Stoney Brook would have some concerns with their #3 starter having to win a do or die game in Alex Box Stadium against LSU.

Yeah, he threw 8 innings a whole week ago. He will have FULL rest.

And he missed a week with arm soreness over 8 weeks ago (I'm approximating). That shouldn't be a problem now. The kid is pitching incredibly.

What in the world does this have to do with 2009? Ranaudo pitched game 1 and Coleman pitched game 2. It would have been Ross for game 3. We didn't save any of our big guns for Sunday.
