Pitching rotation this weekend?

Is there any reason it won't be gausman, Nola, eades? Or do you save Nola for a possible game 3? Has perfect tan announced anything yet?

And, let's not use another starter

I would think/hope Gausman, Nola, and Eades on a short leash.

Nola, Gausman FTW Omaha bound

I guarantee Mainieri wants to go:
Fri: Gausman
Sat: Eades
Sun: Nola
Think back to 2009 CWS when we had Ross go Saturday and Ranaudo Sunday after winning game 1 with Coleman starting. You don't wanna go all out with your second starter for the small chance that you lose the game, you put the pressure on your third starter in winner take all.
But Paul said on Wed. that he doesn't know if it's gonna go Gausman or Nola on Friday considering last week that Nola pitched Friday while Gausman pitched 130 pitches on Saturday. That one day makes a little difference.
If that is the case, Mainieri's ideal rotation would look like this:
Fri: Nola
Sat: Eades
Sun: Gausman
Now should LSU by some chance lose game 1, then everything changes. Instead of pitching Eades on Saturday, you have to go with whoever did not pitch Friday between Gausman/Nola to make sure you stave off elimination. Win that game and give the ball to Eades on Sunday and hope for the best.
Fri: Gausman/Nola
Sat: Gausman/Nola
Sun: Eades
Fri: Gausman
Sat: Eades
Sun: Nola

hopefully:
Gausman
Nola
Eades on a very short leash, doubt he gets past the 3rd inning. Then bring in McCune for 1 time through the lineup and hopefully Bonvillan can come in a chew up a few innings. Lets just hope there is no need for Sunday.

I really think people here underestimate Eades to a ridiculous extreme. He is our weakest weekender, yes, but he has good stuff and hasn't been terrible.

With all the projected rain on Saturday, I would much rather see Eades go just in case it's a broken up game assuming we win on Friday. If we happen to lose on Friday, he would def go Nola on sat IMO

Why not do the same thing he did last weekend?
Friday: Nola
Saturday: Gausman
Sunday: Eades
Tigers win game one, who else would you want closing out the SR other than Gausman?

Which is why you would save him for Sunday if he doesn't pitch Friday.

I can promise you that is not close to CPM "ideal" rotation. You don't have your best pitcher in a situation where he might not pitch a game. That is just flat out stupid you would think he would want Gausman on Sunday.

You must've not been a fan in 2009.
I guarantee you whoever doesn't pitch Friday between Gausman/Nola will be pitching Sunday if LSU wins game 1.
If Nola pitches Friday and wins. Eades will go Saturday and if LSU is winning in the 9th, Mainieri will let Gausman close it out as a curtain call for the Box.
Book it.

He already said that Eades is pitching on Sunday. What he hasn't decided is to pitch Nola or Gausman on Friday.

Link?
I saw where he said he hasn't decided on Gausman/Nola. Never saw anything on Eades.

Absolutely not. You don't take a chance of losing the series without your top guy starting a game assuming he is healthy and rested.
Ross started game 2 against Texas in the championship series because had Ranaudo started it would have been on 2 or 3 days rest. He had pitched in the bracket final against Arkansas. It didn't have anything to do with "saving" him for game 3.

Um, I don't know about all that. It's not like Gausman is Louis Coleman. And it's not like this is Game 3 of the NC game.
You don't pitch your best pitcher in a Game 2 to clinch when there's a possibility that the game can go to a Game 3 and need another starter. You think CPM is gonna do that all for a fricking curtain call? Win the game. I couldn't give more fricks about ovations. We'll do that at the conclusion of the Super and when my arse is in a seat at TD Ameritrade Park in downtown Omaha, Nebraska.

Does anything positive about this team ever come out your mouth?

Yeah it did. He even said that before and after.
If you win game 1, you try and win game 2 but not to the point where it will affect your staff for a possible game 3.
Contrary to popular belief, throwing Eades game 2 is not an automatic loss, but do you think that if they were to lose game 2, Mainieri would have a lot more confidence in Nola on the bump rather than Eades?

Yeah, I'll bet anything that the guy who doesn't start Friday will start Saturday, regardless of Friday's outcome.
