As Bugs Bunny used to say...
'What a maroon.'

First of all, he fails to see that we lost 2 players on offense (An offensive lineman and wide receiver), but replaced each of them with possibly BETTER players.
We have the best QB over the last 6 years in NFL history. We added another big WR in the draft.
And we have two injured RBs and an injured TE returning next year.

Then, he seems to have glossed over all our free agent defensive signings and draft choices, plus returnees from last year.
Plus the most important change on D - Spags

And he also forgets we have one of the best special teams units in the league - kickers, punters, and return teams....

3rd.

K....

Eh. Grubbs isn't better than Nicks, and who did you replace Meachem with? I'm pulling a blank here.

A decent argument can be made for this.

There's a reason Toon was available so late, but then again, anybody can look like a great WR with Drew throwing the ball.

I don't think David Thomas is going to be in the NFL after his problems with concussions.

That is true. Lofton, Hawthorne, and Bunkley are going to massively upgrade the defense.

I'm interested on how he's going to run this defense.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I'm not saying the Saints are terrible in that regards, but you're league average outside of your punter (Moorstead is a top 5 punter).

The biggest knock on us from Cowherd (and the media) is that there is no way we can succeed without our head coach or assistant coach (for the first half of the season).

One small problem with that theory. We have an elite quarterback who knows this system backwards and forwards.

"No way a QB can succeed in a system without his head coach."....two words for you .......Peyton Manning.

I said "possibly". Grubbs has been ranked second behind Nicks, so it may be a wash.
We are replaceing Meachem with Arrington and Toon, two different kind of receivers than Meachem. 6'4" and 6'3", more physical - will allow for more of a ball control short passing game offense.

Maybe Brady over the entire last 6 years.
Nobody else....

Yes. He was injury prone in college....

Hopefully, Hicks and the return of Turk as well.

He ran a pretty damn good defense against us in St. Louis last year :)

Kasay was a very good kicker last year, Morstead can kickoff deep, Sproles is a very good return man.

If saying that Toon isn't going to be an all-pro as a rookie is curbing your enthusiasm, I'm sorry

Its been so hard to say.

After a year in which I thought we looked more unstoppible than in 09 losing Payton is a heartbreaker.

I'm sure it will be a great season regardless.

At least he'd already ceded the play calling duties before all this happened.

Hell, think if Andy Reid or Bill Belichick got suspended... Eagles/Pats would be fuuuuucked.

Reid I can see but Bill? Not to diminish the talents of Belichick, but he's a defensive coach and the Pats have been living/dying by the offense as of late right?

The eagles already suck
