Very good RHP senior (2.13 ERA and Cape Cod League All-Star) won two games at Coral Gables, throwing 110 pitches to beat Miami Friday and 119 to beat UCF on Monday night.

If he has an arm left, when will he be able to pitch again and how effective will he be?

Note: Early regional start in brutal heat cannot help his cause either.

Sucks for them. He won't throw until Saturday for sure. LSU will throw Gausman on Friday. Tigers up 1-0 after Friday, book it!

I dont even know when he will pitch... Most coaches wouldnt pitch a guy 229 pitches in 4 days so who knows when they will pitch him again.

It will catch up to him. Lots of times pitchers that throw on short rest are fine for that outing, but the arm fatigue catches them the next time or two out. Austin Wood from Texas that threw something like 10 no hit innings out of the bullpen in regional play was not his usual self in 2009 Omaha.

that's a hell of a lot of pitches in four days. I'm sure he'll throw this weekend but curious to see what type of stuff he has.

He did, but thats not even close to 230 pitches in 4 days... This is Monday and we start Friday. Thats not giving him much time.

Gausman will be fine.

I agree 229 in 4 days don't compare but I was just thinking Nola will be on normal rest Fri and their ace can't go till Sat...maybe go 1 vs 1 on Sat

Most of KG's outings are 110+. 130 seems like a lot but it isn't much more than what he averages.

It'd be a mistake to start him Friday in the heat of the day. Even Saturday will be tough on him in late innings, if he goes that deep.

we need to throw gausman fri, the first game sets the tone....even if he only goes 7 innings, their will power will be broken by that time with cotton and goody to FINISH THEM!

So in guessing we're gonna see sophomore Brandon McNitt Friday?

Not jumping on the "frick you ESPN" train because I have no real issue with the 11am start times, but how crappy is it that Gausman's last game on the mound at the Box is in the morning?

Man, that is so dangerous. I hope that kid isn’t a serious pro prospect. 229 pitches in four days is absurd. Even Dusty Baker thinks that is too much.

I was ok with Gausman going 130 in a game we had to have, but he was on full rest and will have full rest going into Friday. There are times to blow past your pitch count caps, but there’s also recklessness. I hope they didn’t throw that kid’s arm out. That’s a ton of pitches.
