Sadly there are none left in our area. Great place to take a date back in the day.

I can remember being able to see the one in Shreveport from the interstate when I was a kid. Apparently there was 3 drive-in theaters in Shreveport

Got one near me, about a 30 min drive. I'm glad my son got to experience it.

I agree. There was one here in Lake Charles called the New Moon Drive In when I was a little kid.
It fell apart and was eventually torn down. Now it's a driving range but still has the New Moon name.
The last time I was at one was in 1989, I saw Total Recall at one but it was in central Pennsylvania, I was up there visiting my cousins.
I haven't even seen a drive in in 20+ years.
I always liked them.

There used to be one here in Hattiesburg but it closed after Katrina.
Yeah. And then it burned down. I was able to go 3 or 4 times before that happened, though.
Honestly, though, while drive-ins are cool idea, they get old after the first couple of experiences.

There was one on Monkhouse Drive, Mansfield & 70th, Greenwood & Texas Ave, Airline & Texas Ave. Old Minden Rd. These are the ones I remember and most of them closed in the mid 70's

There's one in Fayetteville that was pretty nice. 10 bucks per car so just load up a car with a shitton of lawn chairs. If booze was in a cup they didn't care. Only problem was they would usually do two movies and one would be god awful and that this was a big attraction for some of the small town hillbillies so the crowd could go from drunk college kids to those two bearded guys from swamp people in a second.

Huge when I was a kid. They were everywhere. My old man would load up the whole bunch! Great for dating too.
Im convinced the death of the drive ins is in large part to the change in cars. The older ones were huge like living room couches! Not as much fun sitting through 2 hours in a Toyota Corolla!

The old Don Drive In where the Mall in Bossier is located. Used to watch whenever my parents drove by that thing on I-20 to see if I could see some nudity when I was a kid. Destroyed in the '78 tornado.
Watched my first movie there. Double feature of True Grit and Five Card Stud. There was another behind the old Gibson's headed toward Barksdale.

I remember seeing a double feature as a kid: Ninja Turtles and Arachnaphobia.

Saw the original Star Wars at the Showtime Drive-In in Lafayette.
Fun for parents with small kids that fall asleep halfway through the movie.
Fun for high school kids sneaking friends in.
Fun in college for a bunch of drunk guys filling up a truck with a keg and guys and going to laugh at the swedish cheerleader movies.
Not fun between the months of May and September, when it's hot as hell.
