That would suggest that Ram had a chance of competing with Ford... Dont mislead the unfortunate.

Btw I don't have a ram, I have a 6.4 in my wrangler. It's an awesome Engine and dodge needs to catch up with gm and ford and offer the 6 liter

the 6.4 vvt is new last year
And? I have heard rumors for several years that once that motor comes out it will go straight into a Ram and be called a SRT8 truck. The engine may be new but the idea is old.

Oops, didn't meant to ruffle feathers....though that tends to happen everytime I mention Dodge around here
FWIW, I think the Tundra is the closest as far as 5 liter V8s go. Though Ford's 5.0 makes pretty near the same power with .7 less liters. Nissan is pretty close too...they underrated the hp on the VK56. They advertise 317hp/365tq, but I think its making closer to 340hp/375-380tq...it's a peppy motor.
As far as the 6.4, it's somewhat comparable to Ford's 6.2...though the 6.4 is a vvt pushrod motor while Fords is a DOHC. But the 6.4 is also a tad bit underrated, it's advertised at 470/470 at the crank. Dyno tests have show cars making close to those numbers at the wheels...so it's pushing near 500 at the crank...it's a badass motor. The 5.7 is stout too... only thing I don't care for is the low end. The hemi doesn't hit peak tq until 4000+ rpms, which kind of sucks for a truck...I mean, it still has gobs of power, but Dodge has to gear them higher from the factory to help get you rolling...but holy shite...the second you hit the powerband, my truck will glue you to the seat.
And as far as a 6.4 Ram, Ralph Gilles has been teasing it but I'm not getting my hopes up. It would only be offered as an SRT performance package anyway.
Finally, I just averaged 20.3 mpgs driving from BR to Biloxi with cruise set at 75![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconbanana1.gif)
