What a genius move. It legitimizes the Big 12, kills the ACC, and puts the gun to the Big Ten's head. You want a plus one that protects the Rose Bowl? Well, just so you know, the other game is the Big 12/SEC champ. It forces a playoff structure on the Big Ten if they refuse to agree to a compromise.

They also say if either/or both champions are in the proposed 4-team playoff, then another team representing the respective conference will play in the game

either the SEC champ, the Big 12 champ or BOTH will always be in the playoffs. I guess they'll just replace them with the runners up?

Does this kill the Sugar Bowl, or does it become this game?

I think he means SEC champs = BCS title game appearance.

As Baloo said, this is a tactic that is intended to force the hand of the Big 10 into a playoff, at least, IMO. Once the 4 team playoff is set, the Big 12 and SEC aren't going to have their champs play in this game, they'll go to the playoff. Or this will be one of the semifinals, which I hope isn't the case.

Nice comeback for the BigXII. Last summer it looks like it was it was on its deathbed, now they look like the favorite to win the last of the 4 super conference slots.

he two league champions have met twice in BCS bowl games since 1998, both in BCS National Championship Games. In 2010, Alabama defeated Texas, 37-21, in Pasadena, Cal., and in 2009, Florida defeated Oklahoma, 24-14, in Miami, Fla.

Well, excuse me, but I do recall LSU defeating Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl, but maybe Oklahoma wasn't the Big XII Champs that year.

Correct. Lost to K-State in the Big XII Championship but made the BCS NC nonetheless. I believe Darren Sproles went crazy on the Sooners that year.

Where should it be held?
A. New Orleans
B. Arlington
C. Alternating between New Orleans and Arlington
D. Year-by-year bids by viable cities inthe collective footprint (Kansas City, Saint Louis, Arlington, Houston, New Orleans, Nashville, Atlanta, Tampa, Jacksonville, Miami)

Hmmmm... This would be a great way to revitalize a somewhat flatlined bowl. 1 year it's the cotton the next the Sugar bowl that has the spotlight. Not a bad re-branding strategy for the Cotton Bowl IMO

The Cotton Bowl would make sense for us, but if Bama/Florida/Georgia are in it, then the Sugar Bowl may become the more central location. Not that it really matters since the Rose Bowl is played in Pac-12 country.
