Iraqi Dinar

Ok guys looking for some answers here. Long story short we have a family friend who apparently has been sitting on what she tells us is 10M worth or the Iraqi Dinar. They've had it for years since their husband was in the Army. Shes telling us that the bank told her it will be worth 10M because of the exchange rate and shes bragging that shes going to be rich, etc. One thing that we found odd is that she said the bank told her she had to follow all these rules like cut up her drivers liscense, get a passport, etc.
Has anyone heard of such a thing? We personally think she is crazy and I find it hard to believe that this is true. Is this a scam or is she really going to get 10M worth of US money out of this?

im being serious, shes bragging like she already has the money and said she will have it by Monday. Im trying to help her and get more details. She swears that its Wells Fargo doing the transaction.
Can someone please explain if they've heard of this before? Im seriously trying to help her and prevent her from making what sounds like a big mistake.

If her husband brought back 11.655 BILLION dinars then she will have approximately $10 million at current exchange rates.

There isn't a bank in the country that deals in dinars, and they never will...FACT!

Quicks google had a company selling them..
Q. May I return my order?
A. All sales are final. There are no refunds, exchanges or cancellations. GIDAssociates.com will not issue exchanges or refunds after a purchase has been made. You have 2 hours to contact our office after the package is signed for to let us know about any discrepencies.
Q. How can I cash in my Iraqi Dinars?
A. Please call 1-800-319-5206 prior to returning your dinar for current buy back rates. Until markets develop for the resale of Iraqi Dinars, it may be difficult for you to liquidate your Iraqi Dinars or exchange them for US Dollars.

Throw them on eBay? Maybe some sucker will buy them for $100?

Hmm ok this isn't helping much. In researching online it seems that many people are in the same scenario.
It has to do with people who own the older Dinars under Sadaam. The new government is changing the currency and people are saying they are changing the exchange rate and people with older dinars will get 100x the value.
I told her if it seems too good to be true then it is. She said she met with Wells Fargo twice this week in person so I need to get more info. I want to get the bankers number so I can verify. I'm still not buying it.

I know a lot of people on this board are very skeptical of the Dinar trade, but it's a very legitimate investment, especially when held in a well balanced portfolio of stocks, bonds and other currencies. It serves as a great hedge against inflation and has likely made this woman very wealthy.

Thanks hidden flask. Can you explain why the bank is telling her to cut up her DL and get a passport? Doesn't that sound fishy?

You can get much better exchange rates in Iraq than in the US. As someone stated here earlier, most banks do not want to trade Dinar since it is so volatile.
The driver's license thing is weird, it must be some tax avoidance issue.
How is she going to repatriate the currency?

It's not any fishier than the Kenyan Prince that I met on Craigslist sending me 20 million dollars in exchange for me wiring him $5000.

This is equivalent of exchanging Confederate Dollars back to US Dollars after the Civil War.
I hate it when people come into the bank asking about the Dinar.

You should really talk to your bank about adding Dinars to their investment portfolio. Could be a great revenue source for you guys.

its not the same as an internet scam because A. she has the actual money and tons of it in a vault at her bank, and B. she went to the bank herself with her financial advisor.
this isnt some email from Kenya asking about her routing number.
now with that said i really hope this isnt true because she doesnt work and gets everything she wants so id hate to see someone like that come across 10M.
