Just a reminder: Mainieri is the best tournament coach in college baseball

5 straight Big East tournament championships (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006)
3 straight SEC tournament championships (2008, 2009, 2010)
throw a CWS championship in there as well
The man knows how to manage his staff in tournaments.
Good thing ahead.™

pretty amazing resume there...
It's a given that PM is a good coach, but I can't help but wonder if all those tournament titles are just dumb luck/randomness (in a sense) or if the man does something in tourneys that really helps his teams relative to other coaches/teams....(personality/demeanor/strategy/etc).

It really is irritating to hear about how LSU rolled off a 23 game win streak late in the season and into the tourney to win the 2009 national championship. I don't think they realize that LSU fielded a team in 2008

he is arguably the best coach in big east history. if it was just once or twice, you could say it was luck. 8 tournament championships + 3 trips to omaha with 2 different teams is consistency

What's funny is that some people in this thread probably think it was 2009 when we had the 23 game winstreak.
