How will he be remembered in NOLA? Will his image or career be tarnished by a scandal that is merely an allegation to some extent; or will he be stitched into the memories of WHO DATS around the country of the face of our defense for a very successful tenure. A player that came in and provided leadership and punch (not literally) to a defense that needed a dominating voice. A player who played hard down the stretch and was a big factor in bringing the first championship to a city that embraced him for all that he had done.

Neaux on the scandal. He contributed and led this team and overall was our best linebacker in recent memory. I think The Saints nation sacrifices a couple of chickens next full moon in his honor. Wait better check if thats in the NFL bylaws first.

Vilma is always a Who Dat in my book....I love watching him play, and I hope to see him play again soon. This whole bountygate thing is ridiculous.

--------

This sums it up.

I personally think he will be back and who knows maybe a year off will extend his career a bit?

I won't remember Vilma as a player who's career was scarred by some over blown scandal but will remember him as a great signing that was a key ingredient in the super bowl run.

What is his legacy? I don't think Vilma was a bad player, but he certainly isn't some gamechanging player either. He's a solid player who you can depend on, but nothing really more than that.

And that's how I'll remember him if this is it for him as a Saint.

I'm not sure how this effects his image around the league but I think Saints fans will look at him as a hero of the 2009 season and a victim of Goodell's 2012 witch hunt. He will remain accepted and appreciated.

He will certainly be remembered as more than a solid player

He was one of the best MLB in the league his first 3 years here, as well as being a great team leader and the Drew Brees of the defense

One of the better defensive players in team history, IMO. I hope he can come back with the Saints, but if not, his legacy is already cemented.

maybe by the media and other football fans across the country, but surely not in NOLA

Thank you for posting this! To prove that clown wrong and to show exactly how I am going to think of Vilma. Every time I hear his name I think of this play. Also, he was one of the better LB in the league as for as pursuit and taking down running backs. Remember all the sweeps and screens on the outside that guy took down. It was like no one could get to him fast enough to allow the back to run through the crease. Oh no, his legacy is not tarnished at all. If anything it is tragic that it could end now and not on his own terms.

I like Vilma, but I always wished he was about 15 lbs heavier and more of a thumper so he wouldn't constantly get pushed back when he hit a running back in the hole.

I will remember him as the very nice guy who had a condo on our same floor, and his very nice dad from Haiti.

Here's to the Vilma's! I know they're not totally bad.

I am surprised that Goodell didn't bring you in for questioning.

Vilma will always be an important part of our franchise. He is this generations Sam Mills. He will also be thought of as the fall guy, wrongly attacked by a megalomaniac commissioner.

to Vilma. You are truly appreciated by the Who Dat Nation.
