Netflix "New Releases"

PJ20 has been a new release for over 6 months now. Released on Oct 21, 2011 it is the first video that greets me every time I go to the new release section.
I put up with the shitty selection, but come on at least rotate in some new shitty movies.

Netflix is getting close to losing me. Nothing but shite movies compared to what it was

Yeah, I hate that.
I use instantwatcher.com to search for all of the new relases. Much better than having to search through Netflix.

I still have TV shows that I'm catching up on so it is worth it to me now. But damn, I rarely watch movies on netflix any more. The selection is just not that good.

I'll never understand how people have so much trouble finding something to watch on netflix. I have over 500 movies in my queue. More movies than I have time for.

I'm the same way.
That said, I understand the frustration with New Releases. Unless you know ahead of time going in you find out pretty quickly that there are other ways of quickly getting access to a New Release before it ever makes it to Netflix. If that's what you're using it for you're going to be disappointed.

I usually find stuff to watch, but it's mostly TV series and documentaries. If you forced me to watch a movie right now it'd probably be something foreign. For $8 I think you probably get your money's worth, but the promise of NetFlix was to be much more than it has become.

And what exactly was that promise? Again I have over 500 movies in my queue. Not only that but it's never dipped below 500 in the 4-5 years I've had netflix. I'm always adding something to it.
It's impossible for any one person to have seen everything. There's always something you haven't seen and if not for netflix there's hundreds of movies I would have most likely never seen.

They NEVER list the newest releases under "New Releases." I figure that they don't want to get slammed with people putting the new releases in their queue.
When I want to know what the true new releases are, I look on Blockbuster. Netflix usually has them, but they just don't list them under new releases.

To become a cheaper version of the cable premium channels that you didn't need cable to access. They were at a crossroads last year where they could have gone to a tiered pricing model and kept Starz and probably gained access to HBO, but instead they decided to stick with $8 streaming and buy more rights to TV shows. Again, for $8 I think it's a pretty good value, but for $20 - $30 it could have been even better.

And you probably have a greater ability to appreciate older movies than the average American that has been trained for decades that new releases are what you want to see.

I know time flies, but they haven't been streaming that long yet have they? Or are the 500 movies in your queue including DVDs, because that's a completely different conversation.

Not Netflix's fault. They are trying, it's the cable companies who are overvaluing their stuff.

Is it an ability?

I like to think of it more as a super power!

I always find something to watch, whether it is relatively new or some older movie I never saw and forgot about. With Netflix, Hulu, and all of the other ways to watch TV shows online, I will not be getting cable when I move to Houston at the end of the month. ~$100/month is just crazy.
