Buying a new truck soon (Went with a Dodge)

Only going to be used for light duty (small utility trailers, atv, small diesel tractor) and my wife will drive it fairly often. We do have two kids, one in a car seat. I am open to anything but she doesnt like the F150. Any ideas or words of advice?
I appreciate all of the advice and discussion from the OB once again! We looked around yesterday and after all was said and done her preference was the Dodge 1500 Sport Crew Cab. So we pulled the trigger on a 2012 dark grey, black interior. I hope she likes it as much as she says she does because its hers for a loonnngg time. Thanks again!

Don't buy anything brand new. One year old with 15k miles is where it's at.
You can do all that with a half ton truck. That said, I love 3/4 tons because they are much better built usually.
If you're not overly concerned about gas mileage, I suggest a 3/4 ton chevy with a 6.0 gas burner.
ETA: The ford 3/4 tons are nicer on the inside if that's your thing and ride better than chevys usually. Either one will be PLENTY enough truck. I don't suggest getting a diesel unless you just want one. Todays gas burners are plenty tough and strong enough for everything short of running hot-shot

Chevy Crew cab 4 by 4. Gets same mileage as a two wheel drive

The F150 is the most popular and most sold truck for like 68 years running. Well maybe not that long. I bought an 11 and love mine. I paid a lot but feel that I got a lot too. If you are looking for another option, I really like the new Rams. I feel that they are the best bang for your buck. Nowadays, you cannot go wrong with any of the big 3.

I personally love the chevy or gmc 2500 hd's but she doesnt love the price. Mileage isnt really a concern. She will take it 1/4 mile to work everyday. I think we put 4k miles on her car all of last year.

True dat
I'd never own a dodge gas burner though

Im getting ready to get a semi new one in a few months. Torn between a Tundra, F150, or Chevy Z71. Can't decide what I want.

GET A 3/4 TON!!!!!!!!
4.10 gears are a must if mileage doesn't bother you.

It was not my first choice but it wasn't my last. We use the Hemi in our 3/4 ton fleet trucks and I love them. The power and reliability is great. Our fleet is over 500 trucks and we have very little problems but we are ontop of maintaince.

The dodge crew cab is small if that's a concern. The ford has the biggest crew cab interior of the three American made. Toyota makes a huge cab but you can get a dodge diesel for the same price almost.

I would consider it in the 3/4 tons. I like the dodge 3/4 tons better than the chevys or fords, I just wish I knew enough about the motor to like it.

Same old motor since 05 with small changes in 09. Solid and dependable IMO. I would have gotten one in a heartbeat if they could match the interior as my F150.

I believe it. I just don't personally know anybody who has owned a newer 5.7 hemi. Do they put the MDS on the 3/4 ton trucks?

I like the Hemi. I thought about a new truck last year and drive them all. Even the ecoboost. Like the Hemi.

They do not. Well I am 99% sure of that. Its not a bad idea with the MDS but it just didn't produce the results that they thought it would. It did not hurt the motor or performance but just didn't help it.
Some of the basic 3/4 ton Rams can be had for cheap. But they will teach you a whole new meaning to a basic interior.
I got Fords new 6.2 in my 1/2 ton and love it. It is a torque monster and would not hesitate to get it in a F250. But you will pay a good bit more for a Ford 3/4 ton over a Ram 3/4.

I'll never own a ford 3/4 ton unless it has the 7.3 rawraw motor in it or if they make some changes on what they offer.
Dodge definitely offers the closest to EXACTLY what I want in a truck versus any other truck currently on the market. I like me some basic interiors. As long as it has AC and a radio I'm good.
ETA: I just don't know a damn thing about the motor. I overanalize the ever living shite out of trucks
ETAA: I'm very much against a fancy truck interior. I like them as basic as possible.

I have a single cab dodge work truck interior just to drive back and forth to work. Very simple interior but good enough. Drives good. Doesn't get great mileage for the lack of power it possesses.
