Jones is all we need to secure the top talent in Louisiana. Better to have some guys with connections to Texas, Mississippi, etc.
Jones being all you need to secure Louisiana couldn't be further from the truth. Will he be an asset? Yes. But to suggest that Jones alone will lock down Louisiana is ridiculous especially considering the important role assistants play in the recruiting process.

Not saying assistants aren't important, but they only can do so much. Look at Gathers for example. He loved Scott but didn't like TJ. The assistant opens the door for you, but the HC has to really seal the deal.
A kid doesnt go to a school just to play for an assistant. The HC is the face of the program and that's who they come to play for. Nobody has more legitimacy recruiting Louisiana for LSU that Johnny Jones. It's not a necessity to get another person who can only recruit Louisiana.

We need to get off this business about locking down Louisiana. That stuff is useful in football, and in baseball to a lesser extent. But while football and baseball players predominantly come from middle-class backgrounds and have strong support systems growing up - and it tends to be a nice draw for them to stay close to home so the family can see them play - in basketball you're recruiting a lot more kids from more underprivileged backgrounds wherein the draw is to get the hell away from the crappy element in the neighborhoods they grew up in.
Certainly the middle-class kids in the state - Malik Morgan being a perfect example - should be a priority. But if you think you're going to be able to lock the state down by building your team off public-school kids from the 'hood in Baton Rouge and New Orleans you're going to be disappointed. You might find the reception a lot friendlier recruiting the same type kids in Dallas, Houston, Memphis and Atlanta.

The good thing is we now have deep connections with both areas.

What is the reason for the change in the name of the thread to "Not so fast (Updated)?"

He is still a finalist for the UNT job. They should name a head coach this week, and he's not thought to be the front-runner, but it is still a possibility.

Looks like they may hire Fran Fraschilla. He already lives in Dallas.
