1) Triple Crown, because I care more about horse racing than the Cubbies
2) The media and public interest will be more on the Cubs, but not by much.

What triple crown, baseball triple crown or horse racing triple crown? Either way, the Cubs winning the World Series would be a much bigger story.

And, yes, I'm biased. But, the triple crown would be a story for a day. It's pretty hard to get too excited about an animal.

Triple Crown, easily.
How many people even know who the last triple crown winner was? The only triple crown winner that general sports fans know about is Secretariat.

Affirmed
Do you not remember how big of a story Smarty Jones was in '04? Sunday Silence in '89 and Real Quiet in '98 were both huge too. Sport has fallen off a bit the last decade though despite several years where we had a shot at seeing a TC winner.

Here's some possibly telling evidence from the past decade in both sports respective "big story."
Belmont Stakes TV ratings
You can see the spike for Smarty Jones' run at the TC in 2004, to about 22.5 million viewers.
Comparatively, when the Red Sox played in the World Series in 2004 (the same year, coincidentally, that the Belmont Stakes saw it's biggest television viewing audience for a potential Triple Crown-winning race), the average viewership for Boston's four-game sweep of the Rockies was around 25 million viewers.

I doubt there is anyone alive that saw the Cubs win the World Series.

1. Triple Crown
2. Cubs, because the media likes pushing a dead sport

I knew people who never watched horse racing or even really heard of the Triple Crown...buying Smarty Jones caps before the Belmont.
This country goes bananas when there's a Triple Crown threat...look at all the people who held vigils for Barbaro FOR MONTHS!
Seabiscuit movie - $148 mill
Just had a Secretariat movie.
The media might make a bigger deal about the Cubs because it's baseball but the public will make a bigger deal about the Triple Crown.
