Son has been telling me how good his burger was at Fat Cow. We decided to go tonight.

I will say, we have eaten burgers at just about every place in this town.....and I am not extremely picky about my burgers - Just want to taste meat and not condiments.....and dont overcook it. Make good bread.

The burger menu at Fat Cow is extensive. Many different options. They grind their beef every morning......and have their bread shipped from Houston (like another good burger spot in BR).

I chose, on my 1st trip, to try to stay basic in order to get an understanding of what they are doing. I know they make some condiments (not all), pickles, banana peppers, etc inhouse. This was a plus upon entry.

Regular Bacon Cheeseburger:
Homeade Pickles, Tomato, Red Onion, Sauteed Mushrooms on the side.
The bun appears ciabatta like, but is obviously similar to the bun at Mason's. Fat Cow seems to use less of the bun, and toasts them perfectly.

Duck Fat Parmesean Frites:
Winner as well. Really liked them. Some were crispy, some were a little soggy (I like soggy - some in my family like crispy - this works well for us). I couldnt pass up the chance to grab these. Someone ordered their Duck Fat Frites topped with Bacon/Cheese like their basic cheese fries....this looked great. Cardiologists need to eat, too.

I saw several salads come up for customers....they look great. There are many healthy options on the menu if you visit here - and dont need a burger.

We sat at the bar....and noticed the grill cook "refilling" his fire under which he grills their own ground beef. They use Lazzari Mesquite Charchoal to cook the burgers. Winner.

I will without question have Fat Cow on a VERY, VERY short list of places in BR to get a burger. This thread is not to bash other establishments....but there have been an influx of burger places in EBR over the past couple years......and I wont go back to any of them. Gave them all several tries.

Maybe my wording painted an inaccurate picture, but BurgerSmith and Five Guys wont ever get another dime from us.

Fat Cow was horrid the time I went. Not sure I'll be back.

Burger was textured like a brick and the fries were the worst I've ever had anywhere.

Still searching for good places

You sound like youre the owner or have some kind of affiliation with the place.

Those fries are ridiculously overrated

Ive been before. The burger was good. Just saying the fries arent as great as everyone was saying when the place first opened.

The post just seemed like an advertisement

Those pictures ensure that I'll never go there. That is not a hamburger bun, and I just don't think that hamburgers are supposed to have artisanal bread. They're peasant food and supposed to be beautifully perfect in their simplicity. Getting fancy just ruins it for me.

Actually the fry cook. Close enough tho, one day I may get my own store.

We are entitled to our opinions. I tried it tonight on a recommendation of my son - and was very impressed.

If you like Five Guys - go there. Bland meat, small portions, condiment sandwich. Bleh.

where did this come from? ive never been to five guys and probably never will. your comment sounds like disdain for the place because they probably do very well for a crappy burger

I dont have anything to do with Fat Cow. Or any burger place for that matter.

Ive wasted 5 or 6 meals of my life on Five Guys (this board loves them) and BurgerSmith. Both bland and dry.

I liked burgers at: Capital City Grill, Masons, Tramonte's, Flemings, Superior Grill (at one time), Cheeburger.

After tonught dinner: I will be eating burgers at either Curbside or Fat Cow.

Does not compute. They only put what you tell them to put.

1. curbside
2. fleming's
3. fat cow

Those are my burger only rankings, but Curbside's french fries are waaay better than the shite they fry at fat cow.
