2 years ago we were 11-4 in the SEC coming off a sweep of bama. We finished 14-16.
I think this team has better pitching and similar hitting to that team. But things can go downhill quickly. Let's hope the team takes it one weekend at a time because as fans we already have us as national seed hosting a super regional.

Difference then was we had Joey Bourgeois and Chris Matulis starting.
Much better arms on the mounds this time around.

You are absolutely right. I'm going to not get excited at all about a team that has won 3 series against top 25 teams including #1 and a sweep of #3 because of what could happen. How dare the fans dream big with their team.

Hey Joey b is pretty good now

The 2010 team had zero starting pitching. The 2012 team has a weekend rotation where each one could be a friday starter anywhere in the SEC.
Defensively we're tight, and our offense is getting better each weekend. This is a completely different team IMO.
ETA: Dunn > Grewe.

Now, as a reliever, yes.
Then, as our sunday starter, god no.

This is why I said we have better pitching this year. So I think this team has a very strong chance to finish strong.

Ahh, these types of threads are what make the Rant so "special".

Hell we have a bullpen guy who could be a weekend starter pretty much anywhere in the SEC (McCune).

Starting pitching and bullpen, esp., are sooo much better. Bats will need to continue to improve, but not worried... Next week will be big.

Joey b was actually our Friday starter that year

Translation: I can never enjoy life, and if you try around me I'll be "that guy"

There was really no set starting rotation that year because it was Ranaudo, then crap.
The Ranaudo gets hurt and so its just crap. Matty Ott comes in and tries to start and fails miserably (I think that was the beginning of the end for him).
Ross
Rittiner
Matulis
Bourgeois
Alsup
Reed
Bradshaw
All of those guys saw weekend start.

Yes. Dunn's presence has improved the entire team, not just the pitchers. This team appears to have "it".

I love the rant for this reason. I figured my thread would get an uproar. It gives me a little entertainment on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Not to shite on our parade but we haven't won three series against top 25 teams. We have 2.
