he inherited the National Championship at Kentucky after that he was very average. He has not really set the world on fire at Minnesota either

Tubby 21 years - 18 postseason appearances
Jones 12 years - 2 postseason appearances

I didn't really even want Tubby but comparing them is ridiculous.

The bad part of this that I think most everybody here can see isn't that we think he'll be worse.

It's the extension of "average-at-best" mediocrity that Joe had to hire either because the big dogs wouldn't take advantage of LSU's deep pockets to put their name with this men's bb program, and/or Joe allowed the daddy dale bbq crew to dictate the hire. Catering to Dale Brown and his handful of ex players versus doing what was best for the LSU program as a whole, including all the fans that would buy tickets and fill the seats. Us fans can't see any light at the end of this tunnel with this hire.

This definitely isn't the spark that we needed to kick off a new era. This is a weak fart in the fans general direction.

That said, he's what we are stuck with. Geaux JJ

Tubby has twice Jones' tourney appearances from his time at Tulsa and UGA, in the half the years mind you. Comparing their resumes is pointless.

and then went on to get run out of kentucky and minnesota in his previous 2 jobs. tubby smith is the definition of mediocrity.

It was not my intent to compare the two. Kentucky will and has gotten in the tourney most of the time anyway. I never intended to compare the two. Tubby didn't get the job and Johnny did.

I'll actually buy season tickets this year if I can get some in the lower bowl without a TAF donation. I don't even know if thats possible.

Let them suck, I'll be a 1992 football season ticket holder and ride it out.

What a shite hire...at least when this little experiment is over we can abolish the alumni game that got him hired.

Very disappointing day for LSU Basketball. The administration appears to be be okay with mediocrity because that is what Jones is. I would have much rather them gamble on a young coach at a small school than going with a guy whose ten year resume shows him to be nothing more than average.

I wanted HUGGINS. But anyway. I will take Jones over Tubby. He will put butts in the seats and can recruit. ITS time for LSU to make a move in Mens BBALL.
