Amaker has done alright at Harvard, but his record of getting Seton Hall and Michigan to the NCAA tourney was abysmal: 10 years with SH and UM and only 1 NCAA tourney.

I'm not in Baton Rouge, but my dad said that one of the local newscasts mentioned that Collis Temple Jr. liked Amaker as a secondary candidate after Johnny Jones.

Could Amaker be a compromise candidate because of his Duke ties and because the old guard will accept for a variety of reasons?

Not a huge fan of it, but Amaker is a relentless recruiter who players seem to like playing for. His actual coaching acumen is more of his weakness.

And we've done so mush better.

To be fair, he would have made it two more times if Michigan wasn't under probation in his 2nd and 3rd year.

To balance that out, his team at Harvard was ranked in the top 25 with ZERO athletic scholarship athletes this past year. And that was after Jeremy Lin had his run.

Out of the candidates, I would take a flier on Amaker for a 4 year contract. He is a current winner and lost early in his coaching career which started way too soon (I believe one of the youngest head coaches in D1). He has shown signs of having gained experience while not falling into any bad habits.
