How will Saints respond? Dominance of '07 Patriots might provide clues

there's a widespread feeling the Saints played by different rules than others the past few years and enjoyed an unfair advantage until they were caught. Moreover, there's a feeling that the organization was so defiant, so arrogant, so downright out-of-touch that it didn't give a rip what the commissioner or league office said about bounties, head injuries or player safety; it was going to play the way it was going to play, and like it or lump it.

That is horseshite. I've literally lost track of the number of current and former players that are saying that everyone does it. Saints just got caught. The Saints are literally sacrificial lambs.

Yep, I'm still waiting for someone, preferrably a Vikings fan or football/media expert to explain how the bounty system gives someone an advantage on the field. Mind tricks?

I think that is exactly what he is saying. Everyone thinks we have some sort of advantage or rule breaking playstyle, but in reality we just have exception talent and coaching and this season we are out to prove that. And in all likley hood, we will. The main difference is the Pats didnt lose their coach and we will.

That is the only acceptable response. Utter destruction of all our opponents.

If the media wants to paint us as the bad guys, then frick it. Let's be the bad guys. Run up the score, and in post game press conferences, say, "That's what Sean would have wanted."

That is the best statement I've read recently. I like it

Being the bad guy rebels is a much cooler storyline than the "Let's feel bad for the Saints because of Katrina" bit.

It was never "Let's feel bad for them". It was the Saints are heroes helping to rebuild a city destroyed by a great disaster. Brees isn't really a villian type.

I prefer the Saints out to reclaim their honor and fight the injustice of a corrupt system that has wrongly persecuted them.

Saints will go out and melt face, as usual.

The Dome will be the loudest it's ever been.

Brees might break the yards for the season record, again.

Jimmy Graham will break at least 3 different goal posts.

Pierre Thomas will gift wrap another touchdown ball.

Lance Moore will dance in the endzone with at least 10 new dances.

We will win the frickin Lombardi after a hard-fought Super Bowl season.

I never felt that way. The team won it by their talent. I hate when someone accuses the NFL of helping us win our Super Bowl because of Katrina.

True, but I just don't know if I see Brees that way. Well any of our coaches or players for that matter. Except maybe the bounty hunters that we still have from that "killer" '09 defense.

That is not what I am saying at all. I am saying that the media latched on to Katrina. Katrina, to the media, gave America a reason to cheer for the Saints. The Saints obviously had the team to win a Superbowl, but also had a lot to cheer for. The bad guy scenario has me much more excited however. This team is stacked, and the motivation brought forth may push this team to heights we have never seen before. I am excited. That is what I am saying.

I feel what you are saying. I see the motivation. I'd just rather be redeemed when we win it all and be America's team again.
